  • Making the Cut: Vidal Sassoon Then and Now

For anyone that has ever sported a bob or a pixie cut, it’s time to pay your respects to the one and only Vidal Sassoon.

The legendary hairstylist passed recently, leaving behind a legacy. Most of us know his name from his many salons hair products, but Sassoon also created famous cuts that helped revolutionize hair into what it is today.

Sassoon made his rise in the 1960s with the “five-point cut” which liberated women from the tyranny of rollers and hairspray, while still looking absolutely chic. His work was inspired by architecture, which is easy to see through his angular styles that frame the face, and models Grace Coddington, Peggy Moffitt, and Nancy Kwan (pictured above) served as Sassoon's muses and trendsetters.

He created the official Mod hairstyle that was worn by Mary Quant and others in Carnaby Street. He was also famously paid $5,000 dollars by Roman Polanski to chop Mia Farrow’s long locks (in front of cameras and reporters) into the pixie cut she sported in Rosemary’s Baby.

Thankfully, the Sassoon effect is here to stay. Sassoon's famous looks still make the cut with many of our favorite celebrities sporting them. All hail to Vidal Sassoon!

  • Battleship: Will You Go See It?

Normally, I avoid action and adventure movies like the plague. I am unashamedly a lover of comedy and chick flicks, and I'm totally okay with that. However, exceptions can be made when there are super hot guys in said action and adventure movies, and the upcoming Battleship has not only yummy Taylor Kitsch (you might know him from Friday Night Lights or X-Men Origins:  Wolverine) but ALSO my all-time favorite vampire Alexander Skarsgard. Nom.

Based loosely on the classic board game Battleship, the movie is basically about a bunch of navy ships who accidentally stumble on an armada of alien ships and machines in the middle of training exercises. The aliens, known as the Regents, are hostile (duh, it's a sci-fi film), and the rest of the movie is pretty much about everything getting blown to smithereens.
    Watch for yourself:

Also starring Rihanna, complete with her badass shaved haircut, the lovely Brooklyn Decker, and the talented Liam Neeson, this is actually a movie I'm looking forward to seeing. And of course, because I'm a stalker and I can, I decided to see what the actors themselves had to say about the film. The inteviews in the video are pretty hilarious if you've got an extra ten minutes.

Are you sold? The movie comes out May 18th, so find me in the theater! I'll be the one in the "I Love Eric" t-shirt.
  • Bad Girls Club: Keira Knightley for Interview Magazine April 2012

Oh Keira, how do we love thee? Let me count the ways! We loved you in Pirates, Star Wars, Atonement, Pride & Prejudice, Bend It Like Beckham, and about a billion other films. With both Anna Karenina and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World in the wraps, she said down with filmmaker David Cronenberg, the director of her 2011 A Dangerous Method, for the April issue of Interview magazine. In addition to looking totally smokin' and incredibly badass, she chatted a little about life, work, and her career.

On how she’s doing and where she is: “I’m good. I’m in London. I’ve just left somebody in the kitchen making a chicken curry, and I was meant to be helping him, but now I’m not."

On portraying a real person vs. a fictional one: “There’s always the moral question when you’re playing real people. Is it like dancing over somebody’s grave? What’s nice about playing somebody real is that generally there’s more information about them, so a lot of the questions that you’d otherwise have to make up the answers to are already there.

On choosing roles: “If I had to make a choice, it would be to do the performance-based pieces, which, generally speaking, are the less technical pieces. When you’re working in a space where it’s really about the technical side of it, then it’s even harder to maintain a performance because you have todo things so many times from so many different angles. It’s actually something that I would like to figure out. I’m quite interested to see whether you could maintain a high-energy performance in that kind of technical arena.”

  • Lady Gaga Costumes by Giorgio Armani

We love Lady Gaga not just for her music, but for her super crazy, yet amazing costumes! However, it is Giorgio Armani we must give props to for executing her lavish vision for the stage. Giorgio Armani, who has worked with Gaga for her Monster Ball Tour in 2010, is working with the pop star again for her Born This Way Ball Tour and there are fantastic sketches to get us little monsters excited.

The designer is reportedly creating spiky PVC pieces with black crystals and mirrored metal. There’s even a keyboard-shaped headpiece! Say what?!

To get us even more excited for her tour, let’s take a look back at Lady Gaga’s many incredible costumes from her Monster Ball Tour!

Yeah, pretty sure the Born This Way Tour is going to be epic.

Also known as Rooney Mara, this incredible actress has been making headlines everywhere for her edgy haircut and punk rock style . . . until now. In preparation for her role in the upcoming film The Bitter Pill, the ravishing Rooney has added ombre extensions and ditched the edgy makeup and piercings for a complete makeover.

  • A Chloë Moment! '90s Chloe

If you've missed our little segments on Chloë Sevigny, then let us all hold hands and worship this ultimate '90s It Girl for what she is really known for: her grungy '90s style. From floral rompers, baby tees (I've got my fingers crossed that baby tees are coming back) and sexy zebra prints and hot pants, Chloë has always rivaled the edginess of her onscreen roles by the edginess of her look.

  • Supermodel Crystal Renn Goes Blonde!

Crystal Renn has definitely achieved supermodel status and has easily become one of the most recognizeable faces in fashion. She also happens to be one of my favorite models, because she owns her look no matter what.

So, when this traditionally dark haired vixen recently bleached her locks, it was a shock. She looks very different, but her drastic change seems to be serving her well in this month's issue of Schön magazine! Look at her work it!

While I love this change, I'm still very much in love with her dark locks. Here's a just a sample of her photos during her pre-blonde years:

Are you digging Crystal Renn's new 'do?

  • Victoria Beckham Covers Harper's Bazaar UK AND China

It's a Bazaar month for Posh, who rocked the covers of both Harper's Bazaar UK and China for their May issues. The dueling covers and corresponding spreads are worlds apart, with a soft, retro appeal for her poolside UK shoot, versus a striking, bright red coif and heavy metallic accents for HB China. Naturally, she rocks them both.

  • Fashion Star: Actress Fan Bingbing's Flawless Style

Every once in awhile, a starlet comes onto the scene with a style that deserves an encore.

Allow me to introduce you to Chinese actress Fan Bingbing. She's on this month's cover of Vogue China and is already a huge star in her home country. She's edging her way into American films and has already earned some notability as a style maven on American red carpets and aces it every. Single. Time.

So let's get to know my new style crush, Fan Bingbing!

Fan Bingbing channeling her masculine and femnine side for Vogue. She looks amazing!

Most people would be overpowered by such a strong look, but Bingbing holds her own and looks so elegant.

From red carpet to the street, Bingbing can do no wrong. Yeah, I want those glasses.

Bingbing is a master of retro hair. Here she is channeling Lucille Ball in Louis Vuitton.

Bits of quirkiness (like this clutch with an attached heart) are what keep me so interested. She really looks like she has fun with her style.

Are you crushing? Check out more of her spread from this month's issue of Vogue China!

  • Charmed by Audrey: Life on the Set of Sabrina

If any of you have seen the 1954 Oscar-winning film Sabrina, you'll know that Audrey Hepburn was her ever-timeless, beautiful self all throughout the film. When I stumbled upon this incredible stash of behind-the-scenes shots by photographer Mark Shaw, I thought, "Oh - maybe we'll see what magic movie star looks like when they're having a bad hair day." Sadly, it's not the case. I don't think Miss Hepburn could have a bad day if she tried.

Entitled Charmed by Audrey, these photos were originally shot for a feature in Life magazine to capture all her daily movements, from hair-washing to acting to studying her script. Surprisingly, most of the originals were lost for over fifty years and it wasn't until 2008 that Shaw's first wife found them hidden away in dusty boxes and had them published. I just love these pictures! Her mega-watt smile literally lights up everyone, and they give us some really neat insight to the Hollywood of the Golden Era.

Thank goodness for inquisitive women! Enjoy!

Who knew superstars washed their own cars?!

I'm kinda diggin' the flamingo bedspread in the background!
