Enter the contest here, and then read on to learn a little bit more about this intriguing artist.(And yes, Neon Hitch is her real name.)Born in England and growing up traveling the world on a bus with her hippy parents, Neon spent her formative years as a street performer and trapeze artist. At sixteen, she ran away to India, latering returning to London in pursuit of a singing career. After touring with several artists, including 50 Cent, she hopped the pond to New York where, as luck would have it, she met her now manager James Johnson and producer Benny Blanco.
In between making her own clothes and traveling in her trailer, she's been working with such amazing artists as Imogen Heap, Ke$ha, Mike Posner, 3OH!3, Bruno Mars, Jason Derulo, Cathy Dennis, Greg Kirsten, Ryan Tedder, Rivers Coumo (Weezer), David Brook, and Sky Ferreira. Neon was also lucky enough to have a session with Kara DioGuardi, who eventually signed her to Warner Brothers.
She is currently working on a new album entitled "Beg Borrow and Steal," but luckily, you can get a preview of her eclectic music right now!I don't know about you, but I can't wait for her album to come out so I can dowload it to my running playlist! She cites her musical influences as The Beatles, Sia, Kate Bush, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Jay Thomas, the Spice Girls, Daniel Johnston, Nelly Furtado, Miike Snow, Amadou & Miriam, Erykah Badu, The Police. That's a pretty diverse group of artists, but I think it really reflects her unique creation of soulful, bohemian pop music.Want to watch more of her videos? "The Annual Lulu*s Peace Essay Competition"
In order to enter:
* You must be a human being on this planet. (Good news for everyone!)
* Write an essay that addresses any peace or justice issue that approaches conflict in an interpersonal, national or international nonviolent way.
* FYI (a little inside info) essays addressing issues of peace and justice including race relations, homelessness, and resolutions to disputes in your local area will be given priority.
AWARDS
The four winners receive a $300.00 prize each, 15% of which is tithed to their favorite (preferably local) charity.
The possible eight runners up will receive a $100.00 prize each.
SUBMISSION
* Email your submission to Tom Imhoff : timhoff@csuchico.edu
* Mail three copies to: Tom Imhoff, Department of Philosophy, California State University, 121 Trinity Hall, Chico, Ca 95929-0730, USA.
* Essays should be between 5-25 pages in ENGLISH
* Essays must contain a cover letter with your: full name, age, physical mailing address, and email address, two telephone numbers (if possible), school and year of study (if student),
* Note from legal guardian of any authors of submissions under the age of 18 years old
* Only one submission for each author is allowed to be considered for this competition.
* All submissions must arrive by May 1st 2010
Winning essays will be published in media and forums of The Peace Institute.
Awards presented at The Annual Peace Institute Celebration gala event, which takes place in the fall of every year in Chico, CA.

Every Avenue!!!!

Fearless Records new music sensation to hit radio waves across America is a pop/punk/rock band from Michigan called Every Avenue. Their music resembles a mixture of Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco, and members include David Ray Strauchman (vocals and piano), Joshua Randall (guitar), Jimmie Deeghan (guitar, backup vocals), Matt Black (bass, backup vocals), and Dennis Wilson (drums).
Check out Every Avenue's first single, "For Always, Forever", from their latest album Picture Perfect. (Available in stores now!) I love love love this song, because it makes me want to stand up and jump around. Every Avenue brings a refreshing, energetic music sound that will make anyone listening want to get up and jump!
