  • On the Road Movie Trailer

So, what do you get when you combine Jack Kerouac's classic novel, On the Road, with the hunky star of Tron: Legacy and Country Strong, Garrett Hedlund? Basically a film I've been pouring over for two years straight!

It was almost a year ago I found about this heavenly collaboration, and while the filming had been complete, there was no release date. Now, just to wet our appetites, the official movie trailer is out, and the film is somewhat elusively scheduled to be in theaters "late 2012".

Check out the trailer and tell me you're not as excited as I am!

  • On the Road 2011: Will the Film Fail the Book?

    Well, they've done it.

They've officially turned one of my favorite books of all time into a movie.

"On the Road" by the infamous beat author and poet, Jack Kerouac, has been engaging readers for more than fifty years with its poetic and honest accounts of life in America in the late 1940's.

The tale of Sal Paradise (Kerouac) and his mischievous buddy Dean Moriarty (Neal Cassady in real life) is a quintessential piece of 20th century literature. I've personally listened to the audio version read by Matt Dillon at least ten times through, and there is no better companion if you are actually road-tripping.

So, a movie, huh? How often have you packed off to the theater to go see your favorite novel-made-film only to find that it failed you?  (They left out half of the writing, the characters were lame, they changed the ending!!) I have to say, I'm a bit concerned.

The one thing that has eased my mind a bit is the casting of new-on-the-scene heartthrob, Garrett Hedlund (TRON: Legacy, Country Strong). Okay, he's cute, but that deep manly voice of his is rather pleasing to listen to, and I have a hunch that his husky voice performing Neal Cassady's long rambling monologues may be just what this film needs to conjure up the magic of the original writing.

Other stars include Kristen Stewart as Mary Lou, Sam Riley as Sal Paradise, Kirsten Dunst as Camille, Viggo Mortensen as Old Bull Lee, Amy Adams as Jane, and the list goes on.

Here's a clip of Garrett Hedlund talking about the film and about working with Kristen Stewart. Enjoy the eye candy!

Do you think the film can live up to the book?
What books-turned-movies have you loved or hated?

  • MTV Movie Awards: Best and Worst Dressed

Even more than watching award shows and other celeb events on TV, I love reading about them online the next day and seeing what everybody thought about the clothes and outfits. (Isn't that why most of us watch them anyway?) This year's MTV Movie Awards, held on Sunday, June 5 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, were no disappointment. In fact, I think I enjoyed these get-ups more so than most other award shows of late.

So, after much consideration of all the glamorous gals and gowns, here are my votes:

    Best Dressed

Usually Kristen Stewart can be a bit much, but here is looks youthful, classy, and elegant. I'm so glad Emma Stone went back to red -- she is just plan gorgeous!

    Worst Dressed

Not really sure what Amanda Bynes was thinking here. However, she does get props for creative shoes. And while I love Blake Lively, I feel like this ensemble really just made her look frumpy.

    On the Fence

Liz Lee and Jessica Szohr both have some really interesting outfits here. From blue bangs to paisley all over, I'm not sure if I love them or hate them. What do you think?

In case you also care about more than what they were wearing, here is a list of some of this year's winners:

Best Movie:  The Twilight Saga:  Eclipse
Best Female Performance:  Kristen Stewart, The Twilight Saga:  Eclipse
Best Male Performance:  Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Saga:  Eclipse
Best Comedic Performance:  Emma Stone, Easy A
Best Villain: Tom Felton, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Best Kiss:  Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Best Jaw-Dropping Moment:  Justin Bieber, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

If you want to see the rest of the winners, check out the awards page here.

Alright ladies, it's your turn! Who were your favorites?
  • Eclipse has Finally Arrived!

After months of waiting, "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" has arrived and it doesn't disappoint!

"Eclipse" is the third installment of the series where Bella must make tough choices. College or becoming a vampire? Edward or Jacob? All this, plus an army is forming made up of fresh new-born vampires. Bella, the Cullens, and the Quillettes definitely have their hands full, so they decide to form a truce to team up against Victoria and the new-born army. Who are we kidding, it's all about the love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob. (Can you say team Switzerland?)

"Eclipse" is by far the best movie of the series so far. Director David Slade did a great job of creating balance with humor, romance, and awesome fight sequences (even your boyfriend will enjoy!). This time around, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are a little less mopey and a little more playful with their characters, especially in the bedroom scene. Taylor Lautner has stepped up since "New Moon," and continues to do a great job of translating the character from the book to the movie. We also get to see a lot more of the supporting characters, including the background stories of Jasper, Rosalie, and the Quillette evolution of shifting into wolves.

Whether you're a twihard or not, this is a great summer movie that's intense, full of laughs and a steamy love triangle!

What do all you Lulu*s gals think of the Twilight phenomenon?  Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?  What were you favorite moments of the movie?

  • MTV Movie Awards Fashion Highlights

The MTV Movie Awards happened this past weekend and we're here with the fashion highlights.

We already covered Katie Perry wiggin' out on the red carpet, but who else was rocking the carpet?

Twilight star Kristen Stewart shined in a metallic Dolce and Gabbana piece.  Definitely looking fashion forward with a messy ponytail paired with the structured mixed metallic outfit.

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens wore Jenny Packham.  This dress is fun, flowy, and perfect for summer.

Scarlett Johansson kept it classy in her D&G Green Lace Dress.  She kept her look fun and classic with a great color and simple black pumps.

What do you think?  What was your favorite look for the night?

  • Trend to Try: Mixed Prints

If you're ready to mix things up this summer, why not try mixing your prints? Stars like Kristen Stewart rock this bold look with a punch of colors. Here she is (pictured left) in a Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 ensemble.

I'm very much a matchy matchy gal and was a little wary of trying out the trend myself. However, runway looks, celebrity fashions and recent street styles have really inspired me to give it a try.

    Some general tips:
*Pair a large bold print with a smaller, subtle print.
*Mix up the textures of fabric.
*Stay within the same general, color palette.
*Also, a solid color belt can break up the look and keep it from overwhelming the eyes.

Pictured above, actress Leighton Meester mixes her preppy prints as Blair on the set of Gossip Girl. I love the color palette here, but I could do without the neck tie. Rachel Bilson and Rihanna stick with neutral blacks, greys and whites. My favorite is Rachel Bilson's look, hands down.

Combining stripes and florals is also quite common. Our popular Mix Master Dress in Orange (pictured left) already does it for you! I love how the orange stripes really tie in with the bright orange flowers. Lulu*s stylist, Cara, took a fashion forward step by pairing the new Day at the Circus Top with the bright Pretty as a Poppy Skirt (pictured right). The look is rather striking, but it works!

So, what do you think? Are you inspired to mix up those prints? :)
