Calling all country music fans!

Saturday night was cold and chilly, so in efforts to stay indoors where it was warm I went out with my friends for a girls' movie night. After buying eighty pounds of candy at CVS, we headed over to the theater to watch Country Strong.

In case you haven't heard of the movie or seen any trailers, here's a little info blurb from IMDB: "A drama centered on a rising country-music songwriter (Hedlund) who sparks with a fallen star (Paltrow). Together, they mount his ascent and her comeback, which leads to romantic complications involving her husband/manager (McGraw) and a beauty queen-turned-singer (Meester)."

Starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Leighton Meester, Garrett Hedlund, and Tim McGraw, this film actually really surprised me for its dark, realistic plot and incredible music. It's a great cast with a great soundtrack, so even if you aren't a big country fan, I'd definitely still recommend this movie.

Leighton Meester surprised me the most on this film, because while I've heard a couple of her songs on the radio or online, I wasn't overly impressed. Given free reign to belt it out without the hindrance of electronic manipulation, however, she was amazing! and every part the gorgeous and talented country star (love the huge curls!).

Gwyneth Paltrow played probably the deepest role of the movie, as recovering alcoholic and country superstar Kelly Canter.

As this song below clearly indicates, she is definitely not just a pretty face or a talented actor. I'd buy her album!

You might already know Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn from Tron: Legacy or as Patroclus in Troy. You might not have known, however, that he is also a mcyummy cowboy who can sing like nobody's business.

Here's one of the songs he sang on the movie, "Chances Are."

And then, just because they are so cute, I couldn't resist posting a clip of the duet between Meester and Hedlund.

Here is their song "Give Into Me."

As you can tell, I loved this movie, and it's already been nominated for a Golden Globe. So are you ready to be wowed? Will you go see it?

Stars are out for Paris Fashion Week

Celebs are out and about for Fashion Week in Paris! These are a couple of my favorite looks from this week!

Jessica Alba looked beautiful at the Christain Dior show. Her Dior dress was a light, floral that left her looking fresh and glowing. She kept her look clean with minimal hoop earrings, a braided beige belt, and white, peep toe heels.

Now for something completely different....

Taking a break from shooting "Gossip Girl", Leighton Meester showed up to the Chanel show with this striking look. The classic Chanel silhouette was given an extreme makeover comprised of leather trimmed with gold fabric and black beads (not exactly practical during a heat wave). The look is topped off with bulky, black bracelets matching the tasseled statement necklace and open toe ankle boots from Christian Louboutin. It can't be denied that she looks amazing!

Trend to Try: Mixed Prints

If you're ready to mix things up this summer, why not try mixing your prints? Stars like Kristen Stewart rock this bold look with a punch of colors. Here she is (pictured left) in a Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 ensemble.

I'm very much a matchy matchy gal and was a little wary of trying out the trend myself. However, runway looks, celebrity fashions and recent street styles have really inspired me to give it a try.

Some general tips:

*Pair a large bold print with a smaller, subtle print.

*Mix up the textures of fabric.

*Stay within the same general, color palette.

*Also, a solid color belt can break up the look and keep it from overwhelming the eyes.

Pictured above, actress Leighton Meester mixes her preppy prints as Blair on the set of Gossip Girl. I love the color palette here, but I could do without the neck tie. Rachel Bilson and Rihanna stick with neutral blacks, greys and whites. My favorite is Rachel Bilson's look, hands down.

Combining stripes and florals is also quite common. Our popular Mix Master Dress in Orange (pictured left) already does it for you! I love how the orange stripes really tie in with the bright orange flowers. Lulu*s stylist, Cara, took a fashion forward step by pairing the new Day at the Circus Top with the bright Pretty as a Poppy Skirt (pictured right). The look is rather striking, but it works!

Teen Choice Awards 2009

If you caught the Teen Choice Awards Monday night, then you couldn't help but notice the variety of adorable outfits seen on some of our favorite Hollywood starlets.

Singer Miley Cyrus went sexy punk with her tiny mini skirt, layered chain necklaces, and various bangles and cuffs. Selena Gomez wore a one-shouldered lavender dress for a Greek goddess look. Gossip Girl Leighton Meester sported a cute black and white stripe Louis Vuitton dress but earned our vote with her ruby red platform pumps.

Hayden Panettiere was looking pretty in pink in a ruched, form fitting dress with matching heels. Vanessa Hudgens was looking as vibrant as ever in a plum purple pleated dress with a unique tassle belt at the waist.

This event, however, wasn't just for teens. We spotted a couple of all-star vixens out on the red carpet.

Britney Spears stood tall in in a sparkling black mini dress. Cameron Diaz proudly held up her teen choice award wearing a sophisticated grey dress with an edgy zipper at the top. Fergie was as colorful as ever in her Marc Jacobs dress, complimented by a head-turning silver cuff. Lastly, Kim Kardashian struck a pose in an angelic white Stella McCartney dress.
