  • Ladies We Love: Meryl Streep

News Header Meryl Streep black & white portrait wearing hatIf you loved to hate Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada or were charmed by the bold cooking antics of Julia Child in Julie & Julia, then you have encountered the amazing talent of the one and only Meryl Streep.

From the Bridges of Madison County to her most recent film, It's Complicated, Ms. Streep has never ceased to keep me coming back to her films. I always appreciate the way she transforms herself for each role so that you suddenly forget you are watching Meryl Streep and become completely involved with her character.

Send good vibes her way for this year's Academy Awards, in which she is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Julie & Julia!

  • Men We Love: John Krasinski

Girls young and old have been developing an unavoidable and devoted crush on one particular gentleman. He's not a bad boy with dark rugged looks, but he is winning hearts all over the globe.

Yes, his name is John Krasinski.

I first came across Krasinski in the NBC series, "The Office," playing the quirky and loveable Jim Halpert. I quickly became caught up in the Jim and Pam love story, always thinking, "Pam are you crazy?! What are you doing with Roy when you could be with Jim?!" Needless to say, I'm very happy to see the direction the series has taken (but I don't want to ruin it for you if you haven't seen it yet).

The thing about Krasinski is, he seems just as charming and sweet in his day-to-day life. Engaged to the talented Emily Blunt and busy promoting his newest film It's Complicated, in which he plays a concerned and hilarious fiance alongside movie greats Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.

The John Krainsinki/Jim Halpert condition proves one thing is true: suave bad boy crushes are officially out, as girls go gaga for the nice guy next door. Finally! The nice guy doesn't finish last.

  • Movie Review: Julie & Julia

A movie that cherishes a love of food doesn't come along all that often. Therefore, it's a good time to appreciate the delightful flick, Julie & Julia -- a movie that will not only have you raving, but your stomach growling.

While this movie is about food -- and I mean a lot of delicious food -- it is also about self discovery.

Based on two true stories, Julie Powell, played by Amy Adams, is a lowly cubicle worker who can only looked forward to depressing call after call in her frustrating job. The thing that makes her happy is cooking and knowing that she can come home night after night, follow a recipe and create something tasty.

Investing in her love of cuisine, Julie is inspired by her husband to write a blog about cooking, but not just any blog: a year-long cooking challenge to make every recipe in Julia Child's famous cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

This is where Julia Child's story comes in -- the Julia Child before she became famous. This Julia, played by Meryl Streep, was a bored housewife in Paris. In a desire to use her talent and excitement for learning, she signed up for a challenging French cooking class. Here, Julia discovered her talent in the kitchen, as did those around her, all while her ever-supporting and ever-adoring husband (played by Stanley Tucci) stood proudly by her side.

Julie and Julia's stories meet in an interesting way that you'll just have to see for yourself :)

Ultimately, this story is about finding happiness and joy in simple pleasures. It definitely made me want to slow down, eat a few less take-out meals, invite a few friends over and cook a fantastic meal.

    Mmmmm....what's for dinner?
