  • Prada Real Fantasies S/S 2012 Lookbook

Haven't we all had a few "Real Fantasies" about Prada's 2012 Spring/Summer collection?

Prada went "100% handmade" with this look book full of retro collages as it "explores the nostalgia of hot rodding, golfing, picnicking, the space race, and other wholesome past times." Love it!

  • Prada Takes High Fashion to the Highway

I'm not gonna lie, I've been to a few hot rod shows in my day, so when I saw Prada's Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection, the little girl in the rumble seat inside me let out a little squeal of glee. Finally, fashion that my dad might even appreciate....

All the initial hype I read was totally shoe-centric, and they deserve it, but hello! Look at how great everything is!

I love how she incorporated the classic car motif in so many ways, yet makes the traditionally masculine concept seem so feminine and sweet. Think muscle car-meets-pin-up, with a little fifties housewife mixed in. Prints, micro prints, racing stripes, flames, and full-on hot rod decals and embroidery... Oh my! And the color palette! Who wants to hop in my '57 Chevy with me and speed on down to the malt shop? (No, I don't actually have a '57 Chevy, or know where you'd find a malt shop nowadays).

But really, let's get back to the shoes, am I right? Spoilers, wings, chrome, flames, and even tail lights, plus the occasional bow or jewels? I could gush for hours.

  • Prada Presents: Il Palazzo. A Palace of Role Play

I know we normally talk about exclusively women clothes here at Lulu's, but Miuccia Prada's AW 2012 Menswear show was too good to pass up. Plus it allows me to report on menswear, which I love almost as much as womenswear. Almost.

Prada exclaimed from backstage that this show was "A parody of male power." She made sure nothing was as it appeared. The formal clothes were cut from denim, what appeared to be mohair was really cotton. The baroque patterns on the pieces are composed of football helmets or Native American headdresses. Each look more impressive than the next.

The piece de resistance came at the end of the show, when Miuccia paraded out actors. And not your Channing Tatum, chiseled abs type. No she brought out the strong brooding types. The award winning types (No offense, Channing, but, you know). From Emile Hirsch, to Jamie Bell, to Willem Dafoe, each played their part as the walked down the runway.

Tim Blank, of Style.com, described it best:

"If you accept that actors play archetypes, then each of them represented a particular kind of man. It wasn't only the accompanying soundtrack of Michael Nyman's music from The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover that cued Tim Roth as a gangster or Adrien Brody as a dandy."

Did yout enjoy this runway show as much as I did? Or are you like "eh" about menswear. Let me know! xoxo
  • Prada: Fall/Winter 2011

Prada released their newest ad campaign for Fall/Winter 2011/12 last week. While you may be sweltering in the summer heat, you can look forward to pops of bright color, plenty of animal prints and a futuristic Mod influence for the coming seasons.

Photographed by Steven Meisel, we see the blush pink trend of spring combined with citrus and python for an absolutely sublime pairing . . . and knee-high making a comeback? Who knew?!

  • Trend Report: Curves Are Back!

Va Va Voom! Watch out for some hot curves ahead this fall!

I was so delighted to see a full-figured, womanly silhouette back on the runway.

I suspect actress Christina Hendricks's Joan Holloway on Mad Men responsible for the revival (left). I mean, who doesn't find her "all woman" curves absolutely gorgeous?

Even if the fall runway trend wasn't solely inspired by Joanie herself, collections from both Louis Vuitton and Prada definitely drew from retro, 50's and 60's-style looks.

Corseted tops and cinched waists from Louis Vuitton put breasts and hips in much deserved spotlight.

The same goes for Prada, whose belted waists and tall beehives would make any gal fit to strut classic Madison Avenue.

What do you think of this full-figured trend?

  • They'll See Red and be Green with Envy

For the girl with passion in her heart and a wardrobe so hot it sparks fire, red is definitely her color of choice.

I, personally, love a touch of red from time to time. This passion stirring shade never fails to be an attention getter, whether it's worn as a lipstick, a statement belt or on your feet (which is especially fun).

That's why I was head over heels (literally) for our newest footwear phenomena: the Mixx Tokyo 01 Red Kid Suede Studded Pradaesque Heel [sold out!]. This baby practically jumps right off the page with its ruby red faux suede exterior that is perfectly complemented by a rockin' high heel and Prada-inspired studs for a little extra dazzle.

For all of you ladies who begged their parents for a pair of Dorothy's ruby red slippers when you were little, these are your perfect, grown up girl version.

This heel will also work wonders for all those holiday parties. I can't think of a better way to sip egg nog than to gather compliments about your festive footwear.

"Just call me Miss Clause,"  you can say with a wink.
