  • Site to See: Hello Giggles

If you love Zooey Deschanel, then you are going to swoooon over this site:

"Founded by actress/musician ZOOEY DESCHANEL, producer SOPHIA ROSSI and writer/Internet Sensation MOLLY MCALEER, hellogiggles.com is the ultimate entertainment destination for smart, independent and creative females. Everything hosted on the site will be lady-friendly, so visitors need not worry about finding the standard Boys Club content that makes many entertainment sites unappealing to so many of us."

This site has articles on pretty much everything you could ever want, from awesome recipes to outfit inspirations, to video games, art, and work-related topics. I seriously can (okay, fine, have) spent hours perusing everything on here, and I love the quirky off-beat humor that threads through every article and has Zooey and her friends written all over it.

In addition to music, videos, shopping, and discussion forums, the individual categories include Entertainment, Treats, Beauty, Fresh Giggles, Cuteness, Home, Social Studies, Rants, Raves, How-Tos, Hot Moms, Hee Haw, and the Daily. You need it, they have it!

Intrigued yet? Head on over to Hello Giggles to check it out for yourself, or find them on Facebook and YouTube!

  • Site to See: Nerd Boyfriend vs. Nerd Girlfriend

    Nerd Alert! ...Well, sort of!

Drawing inspiration for your next outfit can be a challenge sometimes, but with Nerd Boyfriend and Nerd Girlfriend, you can take a fashion cue from unlikely individuals ranging from actors to even physicists!

Roxana Altamirano, founder of Nerd Boyfriend and Nerd Girlfriend wanted to highlight uncommon fashion muses not because they may be considered geeky, but because they’re often overlooked as fashion icons.  So forget Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn and make way for Gilda Radner and Jim Henson!

Gilda Radner, famous Saturday Night Live funny woman, looking great in a peasant top and a classic shaped skirt. A big smile doesn't hurt either!

Jodie Foster's corduroy pants and suspenders really define geek chic. And Twin Peaks' Audrey Horne definitely had a signature style, with school girl skirts, tight cardigans, and sexy red pumps.

We always knew Ms. Piggy had amazing fashion sense, but we didn't realize that The Muppets creator Jim Henson also had an amazing wardrobe!

Not exactly nerdy, but Rob Lowe's style from the 1983 movie "The Class" definitely makes us wish for dapper prep school styles. Who doesn't love a man in a pea coat?!

We can always recognize Charlie Chaplin with his signature mustache and bowler hat, but it's also nice to take notice of his plaid vests and wide-legged trousers.

And our favorite nerd, Mr. Rogers, showed us the importance of setting out your clothes for the day. So of course we'd want to wear his cozy cardigans and casual sneakers!

Who's your favorite Nerd Girlfriend/Nerd Boyfriend?

  • Site to See: Cookie Boy!

Images of the elusive Cookie Boy have been trickling into the Western hemisphere, but his confectionary magic remains largely a mystery, due to the fact the entire site is in Japanese. What we CAN gather is that the intricately iced art of this man/boy/team? stirs something in all of us. From individual cutouts to highly involved installations, it's easy to obsess over this site, and I DEFINITELY recommend perusing his blog!

  • Site to See: Nicola Formichetti's Tumblr

I know you all have heard of Nicola Formichetti . . . right?! I mean being a top designer for Mugler, and Lady Gaga's right-hand-man is no small feat, but with how active this man is on tumblr, instagram and facebook, we're all practically BFF's!

Just to catch you up, I've posted some awesome Nicola eye-candy, but with a collection of high-powered gifs, tons of behind-the-scenes photos and the current nicopanda challenge, you've got to check out this guy's tumblr. So cool!

  • Site to See: The Nail Pro

I saw these fabulous Gatsby nails on the Out of Print blog, and they made me smile, so in my search for more smiles, I found that this talented nail artiste, Lauren, has a whole Tumblr dedicated to her awesome nail masterpieces. It's called The Nail Pro, and I couldn't stop scrolling until I had seen every single tiny work of art.

Aaaaand, she does YouTube tutorials for many of the designs, so you can, theoretically, recreate many of these little gems yourself. Not all of the designs are cartoons and such either. She has plenty of ideas that actually look quite doable. Though, silly me, I'm just here to look at cartoons.

  • Site to See: My Daguerreotype Boyfriend

Daguerreotype: an early photograph produced on a silver or a silver-covered copper plate; also: the process of producing such photographs.

My Daguerreotype Boyfriend: "Where early photography meets extreme hotness".

As if scrolling through beautiful antique photographs weren't fun enough, My Daguerreotype Boyfriend on Tumblr has a carefully chosen collection of dapper young men from the 19th century. Sure, some of them have a few quirks like Munchkin hair - or were involved in some rather sinister plots - keep in mind that these men may have never otherwise been important enough to be captured by the photographic process!

Proof that Munchkin hair was at one point considered cool.

    River Phoenix . . . anyone?

Ok, so this hunk was a bit of a bad boy. That's Ok, honey, I still know some girls who would date you.

    Jude Law (um, maybe cuter).

  • Site to See: Cutest Food!

It's time to give props to one my favorite new sites, Cutestfood.com. Aside from the obvious eye candy (and cake) the sheer inventiveness of some people will have you scrolling through page after page. So roll on over to Cutestfood.com for a peek at cookies, cupcakes and ice cream (oh my!) like you've never seen before!

Loving this puppy Bento box and llama-themed curry dish. Even savory dishes deserve a chance at cuteness!

My personal fav is the pink bear doughnut with one eye munched out, but I may have to give this little elephant pancake a proper syrup bath one of these days.

What's the cutest dish you've ever seen?

  • Site to See: Dear Blank, Please Blank

"We had this idea for a website, mostly because Hans had a bad experience. So we built it, and now you're here... Welcome." That's Hans, as in Hans Johnson, presumably written by Jared Wunsch, the co-founders of the website that is about to eat the rest of your afternoon. Dear Blank, Please Blank is the best time-waster I've found in months (though I am particularly adept at this task).

Since these pictures ARE essentially reading... I'll keep it short. The content of Dear Blank, Please Blank is user-generated, and pretty self-explanatory, which means that, while predominantly hilarious, it can also be dumb. The best part: because we all want to feel like our opinion matters, DBPB offers these eloquent options for your clicking pleasure: How Dare They, You're a Douche, Hilarious, I Like This, and Umm, WTF?!. Because sometimes the writer deserves a high-five, and others, a slap to the face.

And if you're really, really loving this, you can purchase these letterpressed prints from Etsy, in collaboration with Sapling Press (though half of them are just photshopped by DeMilked).

"Submissions are moderated by Jared's cat Louie. If your submissions aren't being approved, it's because Louie is now accepting cans of tuna fish as bribes for approvals (four cans usually gets one submission approved.) Alternately, you can try rewriting your submissions, only this time make them funny."

Also, Attack of the Cute. Same guys, different site.

  • Site to See: Microwhat

    Stuff + Microwave = Microwhat

Remember watching marshmallows expand into gelatinous zeppelins as a child? Our newest Site to See, Microwhat, features the microwave as an artistic process where random stuff is set on a clinical-looking white plate and nuked for a documented amount of time.

But what makes microwaving stuff so cool? Well, you'll just have to see for yourself!
