  • Cannes Film Festival Fashion

The 65th Annual Cannes Film festival just kicked off its eleven-day event, bringing actors and filmmakers from far and wide. While we’re definitely excited for upcoming films, we’re even more interested in what our favorite stars are wearing!

From Jessica Chastain to Fan Bingbing, the styles were gorgeous giving Cannes a very fashionable start!

Eva Longoria looked absolutely stunning in this Marchesa gown with a beautiful train. I choo choo choose this as a favorite look!

Jessica Chastain's red locks wow against her sparkly white gown, while Marion Cotillard looks sultry and sweet in her chiffon gown.

Model Natasha Poly wore one of my favorite looks from Gucci's runway, and the blush-colored gown Naomi Watts wore also brought some train love.

Actress Chen Ting Jia's gown was really a showstopper, especially when she turned around. Wowzas!

Diane Kruger looked perfectly elegant in her flowing gown, while Freida Pinto looked pretty in her pink beaded dress.

Last, but not least my favorite Fan Bingbing arrived in a beautiful beaded number. According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, her hair was styled as a symbol of the Tang dynasty’s noble women and the gown was embroidered with stories of the four beauties of ancient China. I'd love to see it in person!

  • Gwen Stefani, The No Doubt Years

I love Gwen Stefani. I always have and always will.

I remember stealing my sister's Tragic Kingdom album (and later her Return of Saturn album) and doing my best to memorize every lyric, and I even tried to pay homage to her at school by wearing a bindi . . . but admittedly I can't pull it off as well as Gwen.

So when news broke that the band No Doubt would be releasing their first album in over a decade, I got suuuuuper excited, to say the least! So excited, I decided to share my look back at 90's (and early 2000s) Gwen and her amazing sense of style.

Love. Love. Love. I suddenly have the urge to dye my hair pink, and Gwen's tiny shirts are still a classic! Of course, we can't leave this post without No Doubt's number one hit, Just a Girl.

Anyone else exicted for No Doubt's return? Let us know in the comments!

  • Making the Cut: Vidal Sassoon Then and Now

For anyone that has ever sported a bob or a pixie cut, it’s time to pay your respects to the one and only Vidal Sassoon.

The legendary hairstylist passed recently, leaving behind a legacy. Most of us know his name from his many salons hair products, but Sassoon also created famous cuts that helped revolutionize hair into what it is today.

Sassoon made his rise in the 1960s with the “five-point cut” which liberated women from the tyranny of rollers and hairspray, while still looking absolutely chic. His work was inspired by architecture, which is easy to see through his angular styles that frame the face, and models Grace Coddington, Peggy Moffitt, and Nancy Kwan (pictured above) served as Sassoon's muses and trendsetters.

He created the official Mod hairstyle that was worn by Mary Quant and others in Carnaby Street. He was also famously paid $5,000 dollars by Roman Polanski to chop Mia Farrow’s long locks (in front of cameras and reporters) into the pixie cut she sported in Rosemary’s Baby.

Thankfully, the Sassoon effect is here to stay. Sassoon's famous looks still make the cut with many of our favorite celebrities sporting them. All hail to Vidal Sassoon!

  • Scene Stealer: Mod Style of Carnaby Street, London

The 1960s is, by far, one of my favorite decades for fashion. From the structured dresses of the Mods, to the free-spirited Hippies, the times were a-changing and the clothing reflected that. What is so amazing about Carnaby Street, you ask? Well, let me just show you!

Carnaby Street became a hot spot for the hip and fabulous Swinging London scene, with independent fashion boutiques and designers who helped popularize the Mod style. One of those designers included fashion legend Mary Quant who practically invented the mini skirt and brought us one of our favorite fashion icons, Twiggy!

While we have no time machine (sorry guys), you can still get the Mod look with a little help from some A-line dresses, Peter Pan collars, and stylish flats!

  • Lady Gaga Costumes by Giorgio Armani

We love Lady Gaga not just for her music, but for her super crazy, yet amazing costumes! However, it is Giorgio Armani we must give props to for executing her lavish vision for the stage. Giorgio Armani, who has worked with Gaga for her Monster Ball Tour in 2010, is working with the pop star again for her Born This Way Ball Tour and there are fantastic sketches to get us little monsters excited.

The designer is reportedly creating spiky PVC pieces with black crystals and mirrored metal. There’s even a keyboard-shaped headpiece! Say what?!

To get us even more excited for her tour, let’s take a look back at Lady Gaga’s many incredible costumes from her Monster Ball Tour!

Yeah, pretty sure the Born This Way Tour is going to be epic.

Are any of you readers excited for the tour? Show us your Lady Gaga love in the comments!

  • Fashion Around the Globe: Shanghai Fashion Week

Shanghai was once known as the “Pearl of the Orient” and it is clear that the same holds true with their very talented designers. China’s most creative minds came together to show their Fall/Winter collections at Shanghai Fashion Week and did they ever impress! Let’s take a look at some of these rising fashion stars!

     Helen Lee

Retro cool was definitely the theme for Helen Lee with colorful knit pieces that were all about the pockets. The all over kaleidoscope print was surprisingly chic!

    Zix Guan
Guan’s collection entitled “Killers” was inspired by the one and only Angelina Jolie and the power she exudes while still be sexy. Yeah, I’d say they achieved that! Loving the leather Victorian-inspired jackets!

    Oasis
The ultra feminine shapes and colors on Oasis' runway were all about girls just wanting to have fun wherever they go. We're definitely going to need those print dresses in our closets ASAP.

    EY
A mixture of hard leather and soft flowing fabrics were a treat for the eyes at EY. Who knew tie-dye could look so hot?

    Kong
What would a fashion week be without a truly extravagant show? Well, Kong gave us what we wanted with structured dresses straight out of a sci-fi movie that were still so beautiful without being gimmicky. A light up dress? What a bright idea!

If you enjoyed these looks, be sure to check out more awesome shows from Shanghai Fashion Week here!

  • I'll Be Your Mirror: Legendary Street Style Photographer Bill Cunningham

Before there was The Sartorialist or Tommy Ton, there was Bill Cunningham. Cunningham is a legendary street style photographer that is still going strong at the New York Times and even Anna Wintour hopes to be snapped by him!

Cunningham’s career started in the 1970s when he started taking photographs of fashion on the streets of New York.  As a result of a chance photograph of Greta Garbo, he published a group of his impromptu pictures in the New York Times in December 1978, which soon became a regular series.

Cunningham scours the streets on his bike everyday looking for rare birds of fashion and has become a respected icon. If Cunningham snaps a photo of you, it’s a huge honor, because you’ve just become part of a visual history.

"We're in the age of the cookie-cutter sameness. There are few that are rarities, someone who doesn't look like 10 million others."—Bill Cunningham.

Before Bill Cunningham was snapping photos of street fashion heros, he was making fabulous hats under the label William J. The hats are amazing and definitely pieces of fashion history.

  • A Chloë Moment! '90s Chloe

If you've missed our little segments on Chloë Sevigny, then let us all hold hands and worship this ultimate '90s It Girl for what she is really known for: her grungy '90s style. From floral rompers, baby tees (I've got my fingers crossed that baby tees are coming back) and sexy zebra prints and hot pants, Chloë has always rivaled the edginess of her onscreen roles by the edginess of her look.

Tell us about your favorite '90s looks in the comments below!
  • Supermodel Crystal Renn Goes Blonde!

Crystal Renn has definitely achieved supermodel status and has easily become one of the most recognizeable faces in fashion. She also happens to be one of my favorite models, because she owns her look no matter what.

So, when this traditionally dark haired vixen recently bleached her locks, it was a shock. She looks very different, but her drastic change seems to be serving her well in this month's issue of Schön magazine! Look at her work it!

While I love this change, I'm still very much in love with her dark locks. Here's a just a sample of her photos during her pre-blonde years:

Are you digging Crystal Renn's new 'do?

To compare, check out her body of work here!
