  • Trend Alert: Phantom Heels

Chunky, stiletto, cone, kitten... I thought we'd seen it all. Until, of course, there was nothing at all to see! The heelless platform, or phantom heel as I've affectionately come to call it, is no longer a magical foot-piece reserved for the theatrical likes of Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj. The cool curved back has been popping up all over, from red carpet to sidewalk, and not just as a crazy Halloween gag. The phantom heel has made it mainstream, so stock up on a pair of your own!

I'm pretty sure Daphne Guinness was born in these....

If you're looking for real world inspiration, then check out Eteclea. This girl rocks the phantoms like it's nothing.

  • Trend Alert: The Rise of the Midi Skirt

High, low, up, down, minis, maxis . . . can't make up your mind?

Well, now you don't have to because mid-length skirts and dresses (called Midis) are on the rise. Ranging from just above the knee to mid-calf, this length offers a little more coverage, but is the most versatile length from season-to-season. With tights or socks in the winter and stripped down with sandals for the summer, I can't imagine a more compromising look. We've spotted them on nearly every fashion blog, and we've even been spotting them here in the warehouse, so it's time for YOU to check out some of these hot Midi looks!

  • Trend Alert: The Red Carpet Romper/Evening Jumpsuit

Rompers and jumpsuits have had their (deserved) day in the sun, but this casual cutie is ready for some black tie nights! The one-piece has been popping up all over the red carpet and runway alike, with nods from designers like Valentino, Elie Saab, YSL, and Monique Lhullier, to name a few.

Adding a little edge to the classic gowns of the red carpet, the current trend embraces everything from flowy, culotte-inspired almost-dresses (a la Angelina Jolie, Freida Pinto, and AnnaLynne McCord), to more tapered, streamlined silhouettes (seen on Kristen Wiig, Emma Roberts, and Kate Beckinsale), and everything in-between. Whichever you choose, just rock it with confidence and keep on rompin' in the free world!

Little Black Jumpsuit, anyone? From short rompers to floor-length jumpsuits, these ladies are looking flawless!

It's no surprise that fashion phenoms Rose Byrne and Rachel Zoe both nailed this risky look, with beads and sequins galore! Also, loving the length of the stylist extraordinaire's onesie. What's not to love in a little romper/jumpsuit hybrid?

However, this is just something I cannot get behind. Nope. Never.

  • Accessory Spotlight: Guatemala Stripes

It began with these three cuties from Rocket Dog, then all of a sudden... they were everywhere!
I'm loving these woven stripes, which are nearly impossible to nail down to any single name. I've heard: Guatemala stripes, aguayo stripes, woven stripes, tribal stripes, ethnic stripes, Peruvian stripes, boho stripes, Navajo stripes... the list goes on. And on..... Whatever you choose to call them, I'm loving the bright colors for spring and summer. And we have a ton in stock here at LuLu*s! Now! And it's not just us. Check out some of the high fashion doppelangers on the Spring runways.

  • Trend Alert: Chunky Sweaters with Maxi Skirts

I love maxi skirts. Other than the obvious reasons, want to know why? I can wear them for the majority of the year. When it was warmer out, I would pair my maxi skirt with a cute tank, or an off-the-shoulder tee. Now that it is cool, I can match my maxi skirt with a fabulous chunky sweater and some boots. Basically, this trend makes me a very happy gal.

Here are a few fabulous Lulu*s options to get you on board with this trend:

  • Trend Alert: Color Block Me Please!

Color blocking is one of the hottest trends this summer for its limitless possibilities and use of beautiful colors. This trend combines two or more colors worn side by side. Color blocking gives you the opportunity to pair colors together you normally wouldn't and lets you try something new and exciting. The trend has also been said to make women appear slimmer by visually elongating their bodies. Sign me up!

How to Pull Off this Trend
    1. If you want your colors to pop efficiently, choose both a bright and a muted tone. For example, you could use hot pink with yellow, and white. (The color white is always a great way to add bold definition to any color).

     2. Pick colors based on your body type. If you have a pear-shaped body, wear darker colors on your bottom half. This can create a lovely slimming effect! If you have a tummy, avoid horizontal stripes around your mid-section. If you have an hourglass-shaped figure, wear your color blocks around your torso to accentuate your lovely curves.

     3. Don't be shy!! People might be scared to pair certain colors together, but this trend actually demands unlike colors to be paired along side of each other. This is the time to experiment, so go buck wild!

     4. Do not combine beyond four colors. Otherwise, your outfit will be disorienting to the eye and could look like a mis-matched mess.
Princess Diana will always be known as an ultimate style icon. Even the Princess saw this trend coming!

Blogger Taylor Sterling, from sterlingstyle, looks adorable sporting her cute color-clocked outfit!

  • Trend Alert: Southwest Prints

Last week when I took home my sixth or seventh Southwestern Print Dress, I thought to myself, Sienna, maybe you should share your love with all of the lovely LuLu*s fashionistas out there? Surely some of these trend savvy gals are into the prints!

Well, I'm not going to force anyone into loving the bold colors and geometric patterns that come along with these fresh, tribal styles, but take a look, and perhaps you'll see something you like!

As part of their Fall 2011 collection, Proenza Schouler rocked the southwest prints on tapered-leg pants, warm knit sweaters and cute tube dresses. And Rodarte (bottom right) was feeling the sheer geometry of it all as well with this boldly patterned jumper.

Out of these six items, I manage to already own three of them (all three dresses), and they are my absolute favorites right now! I wore the Tulle Phoenix Heat Dress to Easter AND a wedding, and I wear the Agave Girl Dress and the Obey Navajo Tank Dress to work all the time; they are soooo comfortable!

Do you rock the Southwest prints?
