Two designers who've captured the attention of the fashion forward folk with their awkward personalities and intricately developed design sense have been exponentially increasing their fashion empire in the last year. With Anna Wintour (American Vogue's Editor in Chief) picking up Rodarte and placing the brand in her stride the Mulleavy sisters don't have an option but to succeed. Now is this fair, was it a roll of the dice that Wintour picked them, or was it really their extreme talent that is carrying them so quickly along?

Laura and Kate Mulleavy have just won the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award and Hintmag has just pushed their eery and awe inspiring video in their honor. The sisters founded the brand Rodarte in 2005 in Pasadena, CA. By 2008 they had become the first Americans to receive the Swiss Textiles Award and in 2009 they were awarded Womenswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
Watch below and enjoy this senuously sensitive exploration of textures and form from the Rodarte collection.

Ok, so I have a little thing for cute animal clips. The one with the cat playing the piano, or the baby panda sneezing...I love 'em all. If you've got a tender heart for cute critters too, then you'll coo over the video below. Meet the adorable orphan sloths of Aviarios del Caribe sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica. Wonderful footage taken by Amphibian Avenger.

When I was living in NYC, I happened upon an exhibit featuring an eccentric fashion icon named Iris Apfel. The exhibit was called Rare Bird, a title that only begins to describe the collection of clothes that were on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I became enamored with Iris -- along with half of New York City, I presume -- and was recently thinking back on the experience with awe. Then the other day, I found this GREAT video of Iris being interviewed and filmed while shopping.
My favorite thing about Iris Apfel is that she views fashion with so much energy and shows no fear in doing what she wants with it!

Sex and the City fans everywhere are no doubt greatly anticipating the release of the second movie later this month. If I wasn't excited by the first trailer, the newest ones have me floored.

Kid Sister is a fashionable diva whose song Daydreaming is perfect for killing thoose mid-week blues!
I enjoyed watching her adorable self in this adorable video this morning, and it's already made my "I wish it was Friday" blues go away. I love her bright clothes, her long colored nails, and her super soft pink makeup in this video.
I recommend watching and going for a stroll downtown to get a treat on your lunch break or after work while listening to this song on your iPod!
FYI check out RCRD LBL for free downloads and updates on the HOTTEST new music!

I was perusing some music blogs the other day when I happened upon a music video that literally transported me to another world. The song that captured me was Go DO by Jónsi of Sigur Rós.
If you don't know or aren't familiar with Sigur Rós then I recommend checking them out but keep in mind they aren't for the faint of heart. However, I believe the video for the single Go DO from the album Go is a masterpiece of artistic vision in which theater, performance, and opera are combined to create an otherworldly experience as you watch and listen to this video.
59 Productions, who produced the operatic theatre inspired performances done for the Jónsi his new tour described it as:
"Band members arrive onstage in the gloom of night. Owls fly and wolves chase deer, leading us into the next song as floodlights reveal the remains of a ruined house cradled in the heart of a forest. And Jonsi himself, dressed all in white and wrapped in coloured rags, backlit by the perfectly timed footlights fanning out, flowerlike. Whistles and wolf call sound effects echo the effect of a gently decaying house, something warm and bright unfurling in your belly as you become more absorbed in the show."

Return of Glee + Madonna + Sue Sylvester + the beauty of viral advertising = excellent viewing
Last night a promo video for Glee's upcoming episode featuring a Madonna playlist was aired. Jane Lynch sings along to "Vogue," making me want to grab the new Like a Prayer Gloves and dance around the warehouse circa 1990. Strike a pose, there's nothing to it!!

Time seems to be on the fly, and today is yet another Monday that you need music for! And what better band to feature than Hot Chip?
Here are two music videos for your listening pleasure. I picked these videos because they were both visually pleasing, while keeping the Hot Chip style and feel that their fans crave...
First of all, listen away and enjoy One Life Stand ...
And secondly, here is One Pure Thought (a gggrrreat song) from Hot Chip to keep you on your toes for the rest of this Monday!
