  • Retro Fox: Grace Slick

(Grace Slick (left) with Janis Joplin)

What with Coachella firing up in like three weeks, and the entire 2012 festival season beginning to buzz, I thought I'd pick out one of my favorite music and style icons from the 1960's and 70's; Grace Slick. If the name isn't sounding familiar, perhaps you've heard a little song called "Somebody to Love" or "White Rabbit". That's right Grace was the lead singer for Jefferson Airplane, a San Francisco-based group that helped define the psychedelic rock era.

Today we can all take a little style inspiration as we order our festival tickets and plan out our Boho looks. From paisley Kaftans to belted army jackets with beads, it's time to soak up some killer festival digs!

Grace rockin' it at Woodstock. I could basically just LIVE in that fringed white getup for the whole weekend.

Another day at Woodstock (left) and wearing a bright paisley Kaftan at right.

Looking very chic in the studio dressed in all black with a high ponytail, and are those the Jeffrey Campbell Benatars on her feet???

  • Retro Fox: Linda Hamilton

Whether you think of her as Sarah Connor from Terminator, Catherine Chandler in the eighties television series Beauty and the Beast, or Vicky from Children of the Corn, actress Linda Hamilton was undoubtedly a quintessential 80's hottie!

    Beauty and the Beast

I love this quaint little pic form the set of Stephen King's Children of the Corn.

Oh the 80's! I can't help but admire Linda's rosy features framed by her questionably cool haircut and braided headband.

  • Retro Fox: Tuesday Weld

Born Susan Ker Weld in 1943, Tuesday Weld was one of the most unique screen sirens of her day. Modeling from a young age, Tuesday then moved on to act in such films as Once Upon a Time in America, Play It As It Lays, Thief, and Looking for Mr. Goodbar, with costars like Steve McQueen, Michael Douglas, and Robert De Niro.

Not only was she talented, but she was also incredibly gorgeous. Classic blonde curls, killer cheekbones, an engaging gap tooth, and a fantastic wardrobe combined to make one stunning little lady. Check her out!

So mod! I love both of these outfits, from the floral print dress to the cute clutch to the simple white dress with skinny belt. Both these looks are totally back in style now!

Stripes and cut-offs! I want to know how she makes it look so easy...le sigh...

    Hat? Check. Print pants? Check!

Orange tones are definitely this season's color. With a soft updo on the left and sultry glamor on the right, Tuesday is everything elegant and gorgeous.

  • How to Wear High-Waisted Shorts and Skirts: The Ultimate Vintage Look

The High-wasited trend has been around since the 1940s and it will be around for quite some time, which I am ecstatic about! It is the ideal fashion tip to elongate your legs and accentuate your waist. High-waisted bottoms are also a solution to every girl’s dread: the muffin top. The key is to find bottoms that hit your natural waist and hugs your hips. Who doesn’t want to look like a tall vintage-inspired beauty queen?

Here are some style tips of how to attain the classic and sophisticated high-waist style:

    1. Make sure your high-waisted shorts are nice and snug, they will be unflattering on you if there is bunching of the fabric. The most important thing to remember when sporting this trend is to find bottoms that suit your body type perfectly.
    2. Cropped tops are ideal for the high-waist look because of how easy they tuck in. It is VERY important to tuck in your shirt if you want to pull off this look. When tucking, don’t pull the top out too much because this adds volume to your waist. Also, do not tuck in too much or else you will look stiff and uncomfortable. A personal crop top favorite is the Picking Petunias Pink Top for its adorable ruffles and girly color.
    3. Belts are a must with this look. Pick a skinny belt to draw attention to your high-waisted style. Or, if you want to emphasis your upper body and cinch your waist, a wide belt is a must!
    4. Heels heels heels! These are the perfect final touch to this look because heels add to the elongated look of the legs.

Even cute Betty White rocked this style when she was younger!

Here are some perfect options from Lulu*s to start you off with this trend the right way:

  • Have a Very Vintage Fall

Keeping warm when the days get chilly doesn't mean skipping out on cute style. With the right pair of mittens, that perfect scarf, a chic little hat and a gorgeous coat, you'll be toasty warm and perfectly trendy, no baggy, hooded sweatshirts required.

I don't know if it's because the new season of Mad Men just started, but I'm really inspired by retro-styles from the 50's and 60's for this fall and winter. Here are a few of photos from My Vintage Vogue that really sparked my interest.

With flattering, double-breasted coats, cute furry contrasts (or faux fur), and an array of cozy accessories, these gals know how to show up Jack Frost in style!

If you're inspired by these looks, take a peek at some of my favorite, retro-style coats from Lulu*s! Featured below is the Sherlock Trench Coat, the Fonda Coat, the Lennon Coat, and the gorgeous Quinn Coat
