  • Taylor Swift for Vogue

Who doesn't love Taylor Swift? How can a girl that famous, that pretty, that rich, be so down-to-earth??? Well if you're looking for ammo to build a case against her, the February issue of Vogue's got nothing for you. If, however, you'd like to ooo and ahh over a gorgeous collection of photos of Miss Swift looking ah-mazing, then you're one lucky girl (or boy, I guess).

I'm SO in love with the hippie-boho-rocker feel of this shoot. Makes me want to go home and watch Almost Famous.

So, now I feel kind of shallow because all I really care about is the pretty pictures. The thing is, the interview is actually totally worth reading as well, so I really must recommend checking out the whole darn article.

    *Kudos to Mario Testino*

  • Fashion Illustration by Esther Bayer

The fashion-based illustrations of Canadian artist, Esther Bayer, are this week's homage to the inevitable (right?) arrival of spring. Taking inspiration from vintage magazine covers and little trifles like ". . . the colors of two lovely soft pink carnations that were sitting on my kitchen table;" how could you not fall in love with the soft colors and keen brushstrokes that are available in print form at her Etsy shop.

Attention Readers! Do you draw or illustrate? We would love to see your work and possibly feature it on our blog! Email sienna@lulus.com with images or a link to your work!

  • Sarah Jessica Parker for Vogue

Sarah Jessica Parker appears on the cover of Vogue for her sixth time on the 2011 August issue. Parker is simply stunning in Mario Testino's photoshoot.

Since the shoot took place in a domestic setting, she wanted husband Matthew Broderick and kids, son James Wilkie and twin daughters Tabitha and Loretta to be included in the shoot. This might be the most personal photoshoot SJP has done yet.

Sarah Jessica Parker dons fabulous pieces by designers Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler, Chanel and among many others.

According to Sarah, Carrie would be proud of the elegant designs she had the privlege of wearing; the only things missing were some Manolo Blahniks.

    You go SJP!

  • Alexa Chung on the Cover of British Vogue!

Trendsetter Alexa Chung graces the cover of British Vogue for the June 2011 issue looking as beautiful as ever! With soft bangs and a tousled wave, her chic bob is picture perfect.
Alexa has been a hair icon for years and has been setting trends since she arrived on the scene! Check out some of my favorite hair looks from years past.

Similar to the Vogue cover, look this soft and feminine bob is the perfect length for Alexa's face shape. The caramel hue makes her eyes look even more blue!

Alexa had a heads up on the ombre trend back in 2009. With dark roots and a lighter tone on the tips, Alexa was one of  the first to make this hairstyle sensation a hit!

Fixing the bangs into a chic side braid is the perfect way to get your hair out of your face while changing up the style. Keep it loose and tousled for a soft and easy look.

What do you think of Alexa's styles? Which one is your favorite?

  • The Photography of Annie Leibovitz

You've all seen the work of Annie Leibovitz, whether you knew it or not.

One of the most prolific and well-known photographers of our time, Leibovitz shoots regularly for Vogue, and has been working for Vanity Fair since 1980 creating only the most exciting and richly developed covers and spreads!

As a young woman in Berkeley in the 70's, Leibovitz signed on to work for the budding Rolling Stone magazine, and within three years graduated to chief photographer.

Going on tour with The Rolling Stones or to an interview with John Lennon to take pictures and cover shots was commonplace, and Leibovitz grew into a style all her own. See below an early picture of the infamous dancer, Mikhail Baryshnikov.

The most amazing thing about the work of Annie Leibovitz is that she has an uncanny talent for telling you something intimate about someone.

Beyond just a simple snapshot, Leibovitz would study her subjects for hours or days in order to get a shot that was honest and revealing.

Look at this perfect shot of Cate Blanchett on a bicycle. The lighting, the way her hair is blowing and the expression on her face all come together for that split second!

Part of an Alice in Wonderland shoot for Vogue.

Look at all of these Hollywood starlets in one room! It's no accident that we see a sort of backstage scene exposing the rolling Hollywood hills and perhaps, a window into a little part of these women's lives that we don't ever see.

Part of an amazing retrospective photo shoot of Johnny Depp for Vanity Fair, many of the pics taken by Leibovitz herself!
    Total eye candy!

An elaborate Vogue take on The Wizard of Oz featuring Keira Knightley, the Penn State Marching Band and artist Kara Walker!

. . . and who could forget this fantastic shoot with Lady Gaga and Lily Cole in a Hansel and Gretel-inspired scene.

  • Vogue on Vogue: A Year in Covers

While perusing my daily blogs via tumblr the other day, I stumbled on one of the most visually stunning covers of Vogue I had ever seen. With a little research I found that these covers were made by a livejournal user shrubrub and instantly reached viral fame.

    (India & China)

These covers represent every cover published in 2010 of each country’s editions, and the results are hauntingly beautiful.  Each cover also speaks volumes of the conventional layouts of some Vogue editions as opposed to others that take a more artistic approach and embrace the avant-garde.

In both the UK, US, DEUTCH vogue stick with the up close tight shot of the models face.

    (UK, Deutch, US)

While most other editions stick to a full length shot, with the model’s face framed within the “G”

    (Portugal & Nippon)
    (Austrailia, Hellas, & Espana)

The two that stood out to me the most were Vogue Italia and Paris, with their dark and moody themes and eclectic covers, these two editions are an obvious step above the rest.

(Above:Turkey, Korea, Taiwan. Below: Brazil & Russia)

This final image is of all the 2010 covers merged into one with the text removed. Call it cliché but I think I can see the Virgin Mary in the picture...

Let's take a poll and tell me which one is your favorite!

  • Catching Up With Carey Mulligan

The talented Carey Mulligan has been turning heads and winning hearts ever since her Oscar-nominated performance in An Education

I was excited to see her on the cover of Vogue for October 2010. The story behind the shoot is really interesting, as they paired this fresh faced actress in couture pieces from Paris (pictured left). Photography is by Peter Lindbergh

It seems Mulligan's talent can radiate and transform on any landscape, and I can't wait to see her newest film, Never Let Me Go, which was released earlier this month.

The film follows the journey of three friends who grew up in a secluded boarding school in England. Also starring Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield. Watch the trailer above, and visit Vogue to view behind-the-scenes footage of the cover shoot!

  • Morning Beauty: Jessica Stam by Steven Meisel

Have you ever wandered across a fashion editorial that took your breath away?

The first time this happened to me, I was flipping through a Vogue when I was about 14 and was caught breathless when I saw an editorial in the back of the magazine. From then on fashion has had my undivided attention.

As I perused Fashiongonerogue this morning I stumbled upon this editorial from Vogue Italia in 2003 done by the god of fashion photography Steven Meisel and modeled by none other than Jessica Stam.

Re-visiting Kathleen's blog on colored hair I have to say the look, styled here in 2003 by Brana Wolf was revolutionary. The way Jessica's hair glows in some of these pictures gives a whole new meaning to avant-garde.

Was your breath taken? Mine sure was!

  • Love Her Look: Marion Cotillard in Vogue

After winning an Oscar for her portrayal of singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, actress Marion Cotillard has gained much deserved notoriety and prominence in the spotlight.

Now, this talented French native has stared alongside Johnny Depp in Public Enemies and Leonardo DiCaprio in the upcoming film, Inception.

Marion recently graced the cover of the July issue of Vogue. I just love the beautiful berries and soft pinks of Cotillard's feature. Taken at La Bastide de Marie, located in the South of France, these shots by photographer Mario Testino are exquisite to behold.

Find more gorgeous photos and read the interview under Vogue's feature section.
  • Janelle Monáe the "Different Kind of Diva"

Dubbed by Vogue as a "different kind of diva", Janelle Monáe likes to keep her music interesting. Mixing the sounds of jazz, funk, and soul, its no wonder Sean "Diddy" Combs saw potential and signed this young artist.

After the success of her first album "Metropolis" which earned her a Grammy (read about "Metropolis" from a previous blog!), her sophomore album follows up where the first one left entitled "The ArchAndriod", released by Bad Boy Records.

Needless to say Janelle is not affraid of thinking outside of the box. On her website, she describes her new album as an epic James Bond film set in outer space. There's no doubt this artist is on her way to the top, while changing the way people perceive music.

Want to listen to more of this mixing diva? Here's her hit "Cold War" from her new album:
