  • Site to See: Hello Giggles

If you love Zooey Deschanel, then you are going to swoooon over this site:

"Founded by actress/musician ZOOEY DESCHANEL, producer SOPHIA ROSSI and writer/Internet Sensation MOLLY MCALEER, hellogiggles.com is the ultimate entertainment destination for smart, independent and creative females. Everything hosted on the site will be lady-friendly, so visitors need not worry about finding the standard Boys Club content that makes many entertainment sites unappealing to so many of us."

This site has articles on pretty much everything you could ever want, from awesome recipes to outfit inspirations, to video games, art, and work-related topics. I seriously can (okay, fine, have) spent hours perusing everything on here, and I love the quirky off-beat humor that threads through every article and has Zooey and her friends written all over it.

In addition to music, videos, shopping, and discussion forums, the individual categories include Entertainment, Treats, Beauty, Fresh Giggles, Cuteness, Home, Social Studies, Rants, Raves, How-Tos, Hot Moms, Hee Haw, and the Daily. You need it, they have it!

Intrigued yet? Head on over to Hello Giggles to check it out for yourself, or find them on Facebook and YouTube!

  • What's Up with Fringe Bangs?

Sure, girls like Zooey have been rocking the fringe bangs for years, but with the brow-grazing looks sweeping across the red carpet, it's time to take a closer look. Stars like Jessica Biel, Liv Tyler and Rachel McAdams have most recently made the cut, following in the snips . . . er, steps . . . of celebs like Reese Witherspoon and Olivia Wilde.

What do you think of the fringe bangs? Who's got the best look?
  • A Very She & Him Christmas Album!

Are you a fan of Christmas music? Do you listen to Jingle Bells at work, with your ear buds hidden under a Santa hat? Well, the She & Him Christmas Album may be JUST what you've been waiting for.

Our favorite “adorkable” actress, Zooey Deshanel, paired up with fellow musician, Matt Ward, in 2008 for an initial collaboration, which turned into a touring band and (low-and-behold) their newest full-length album, A Very She & Him Christmas. This is the album to play after Christmas Eve dinner, with a glass of champagne and a basket of sugar cookies. Just be sure to wear a puffy polka dot dress and a poinsettia behind your ear in the spirit of Zooey!

The album features Indie-fied versions of all your favorites, and the cinnamon-sprinkled voice of Zooey that will forever remind me of Christmastime, after her role as Jovie in Elf. While some may argue the album a bit sleepy, I would put it in the “visions of sugarplums” category. You can listen for yourself here.

Let us know what YOU think!

  • The New Girl we can't get enough of: Zooey Deschanel

Oh my goodness . . . can Zooey Deschanel do no wrong?

Of all the things I look forward to in life, new television programs don't typically make the cut. It's true that I recently stumbled upon the horribly wonderful reality show Love in the Wild and bring it up at work EVERY Thursday morning, but new television shows can all-too-often be such unfulfilling forms of entertainment that they often slip from their time slots without anyone (espcially me) noticing.

However, big screen starlet, Zooey Deschanel, paying me a visit on those dreary Tuesday nights sounds almost too good to be true! Hello New Girl!

The Gist: The quirky and "adorkable" Jess (Deschanel) finds new roommates after experiencing a traumatic and rather odd break-up. Each with their own distinct personalities, the three male roomies reluctantly take her in and help her get back in the game. Together, along with Jess's professional model BF, form a happily dysfunctional (and hopefully hilarious) family. Check out the trailer below:

Fun Fact: Besides being the obvious star of New Girl, Zooey also wrote and recorded the show's theme song!

New Girl premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20th at 9:00pm on FOX.

Anyone else looking forward to the New Girl?

  • Pretty in Polka Dots!

Retro, fun and a little bit quirky, ya gotta love a good polka dot print! Our newest Surprise Party Dress (pictured center front) arrived just in time for all those graduation parties I need to attend. Blue and white make an exceptionally good pair for this print, as seen on Zooey Deschanel (left) and Miranda Kerr (right).

I can't wait to style it with a messy chignon, bow hair clip and some red lipstick (but of course!).

  • New Single from She & Him!

Summer is fast approaching, and I have a feeling that She & Him's new album Volume Two will be essential part of my summer soundtrack.

If you aren't familiar with She & Him, here's the breakdown:

The band consists of M. Ward, a indie singer-songwriter who rose to fame out of the Portland, Oregon, music scene, and Zooey Deschanel, one of our favorite actresses here at Lulus.com. M. Ward was impressed by Zooey's singing in the movie Elf, and after she sent him some demos, he insisted she record them proper. Thus, She & Him was born.

I first heard of She & Him almost two years ago to the day, when I was asked to record a video review of their first album, Volume One, for the college radio station I was working for. I've had them stuck in my head ever since.

The pair just premiered the video for their new single "In the Sun" that's absolutely adorable. Check it out below:

Their sophomore album, Volume Two, hits stores March 23, so mark your calendars.

  • Trend to Try: High Waist Shorts

This summer, I'm hoping to add a little retro flair to my warm-weather wardrobe. Retro to me means a high waist, whether it be skirts, pants or shorts. Don't be frightened into thinking that a high waist = mom jeans. When worn correctly, a high waistline will cinch in your middle while creating an overall flattering and feminine silhouette. That's why I was thrilled to see our Short Shorts from Cheap Monday come in last week. With a high belted waist, these dark denim shorts are just ready to be styled up with a pair of cute flats and button up top (not to mention hair tied up with a handkerchief and bright red lipstick).

For styling inspiration, I love how Kiera Knightly has paired a simple collared blouse with her high waist plaid bottoms.

A leggy Audrey Hepburn keeps the look chic with little heels and a plaid shirt.

Zooey Deschanel's outfit goes all out retro with double breasted sailor shorts. The tights are a nice touch in that they make the look wearable for the cool months of spring.

  • Zooey + Bows = Adorable

I was flipping through Lucky Magazine the other day and was so inspired by this pic I found of Zooey Deschanel in an advertisement for America's Cotton Producers. I've gushed about Zooey's style before, but I thought I should point out how well she pulls off the bow trend here.

The cute little bows on her feet are a dead ringer for our Chinese Laundry Sweet Caroline Black Jelly Flats that have been literally FLYING off the shelf. I love the idea of a metallic bow necklace as well, which is why I was so psyched to see the Maybe So Necklace in gold and silver arrive this morning.

Now, the Zooey Bow Earrings below [sold out! but available in Red] have a name not only inspired by Zooey herself, but I'm pretty sure she'd go crazy over them if she happened to stroll into the Lulu*s warehouse one day. :)

  • Fast and Glamorous: The Simple Chignon

If you're like me, rainy weather has you neglecting any attempts at hair styling and sporting a variety of caps all week instead. Now, while hats can be fun, it's nice to change up your look every now and then. But while there's so much moisture in the air, I find it pointless to spend time blow-drying and straightening when it's all going to end up a frizzy mess.

That's where the classic chignon comes in extremely handy.

A low bun pulled to the side of the head, a chignon is a simple style that can be as glammed up or as casual as you wish. I prefer it loosely gathered and pulled slightly off center. Add any clips or accessories, red lipstick, and those rainy days won't look so daunting after all.
