Wedding season is here: Finally, right, brides? If you’re getting ready to walk down the aisle but you don’t have your “something blue” quite yet, then this is the perfect wedding nail design for you. Pairing simple but sweet blue flowers with the perfect soft neutral shade makes for a beautiful, subtle summer statement (to go with your Lulus wedding dress, of course).

Supplies:

  • Base coat
  • Sheer neutral nail polish (I used Essie Sugar Daddy)
  • Light blue nail polish (I used Essie Bikini So Teeny)
  • White nail polish (I used Essie Pre-Show Jitters)
  • Small dotting tool
  • Acetone
  • A small bowl for the acetone
  • Glossy top coat

Instructions:

Step 1: Prep and file your nails to your desired shape.

Step 2: Apply a thin layer of base coat.

Step 3: Apply 2-3 coats of a sheer neutral nail polish as your base shade (here I used three coats of Essie Sugar Daddy).

Step 4: This is a design with lots of negative space, so we’ll be sparsely placing small blue flowers as a subtle accent along the outer edges of the nail. To create a small blue flower, start with your light blue nail polish (here I’m using Essie Bikini So Teeny).

Step 5: Dot a small amount of blue polish on a piece of foil, and dip your dotting tool into the color. To create the flower petals, gently place your dotting tool close to the edge of your nail and drag from outwards in slightly to create your first petal! Repeat in a circle until you have five petals that all meet in the middle.

Step 6: Repeat this process on all your nails, changing the placement of the flowers for interest, but keeping them along the edge of the nail–which can be along the tip, toward the cuticle, or
a mix of both!

Step 7: Next, dot the white polish on the piece of foil (this shade is Essie’s Pre-Show Jitters), and dip your dotting tool into the color. Place a small white dot in the center of every flower. Be sure to periodically clean off your dotting tool during the design process so you get an even application and the polish doesn’t clump up.

Step 8: Let the design dry and then apply a glossy top coat.

Step 9: Cap the edge and finish with cuticle oil.
