Hair How-To: An Easy Braided Half-Up Hairstyle That’s Totally Date-Worthy

There is something about a half-up, half-down hairstyle with a braid that we just go gaga for. Pretty and effortless, with a hint of boho, this look from our favorite beauty expert, Erin Ryser, is officially our new easy date-hair go to. We think it’s about to be yours, too.

Among the many things we love about this braided half-up hairstyle: It’s perfect for those of us who have a hard time deciding how to do our ‘dos (raises hand). Dreamy braid? Flowing hair down? Why choose when you can have both?

Bonus: You don’t need to be a professional to nail this half-updo. It’s easy to achieve on your own, so you’ll look laid-back cute without running late. Whether you’re heading to date night, girls’ night out, or even special occasions like prom or a wedding, try a half-up, half-down hairstyle with a braid to get put-together pretty in no time. Half-Up, Half-Down Hairstyle With Braid:

1. Curl the hair into loose waves.
2. Tease the crown for volume.
3. Rope braid a section from about an inch back on each side, then pull the braids for fullness.
4. Bring the braids across the back from either side to criss-cross and secure with pins.
5. On one side, create another two-stranded rope braid just below the first braid, pull on the braid for fullness.
6. Bring the braid across the back and secure with pins.
