Spring is officially in bloom, so there’s no better time to adorn your digits with some floral print nail art. This daisy nail design is both on trend and easy to achieve, even for the amateur at-home artist. Springy and simple–sounds good, right?

I chose to do just two flowery nails to coordinate with my pretty midi dress, but you can repeat the design on all nails if you like, or just a few. Tip: When recreating prints don’t worry about making them look identical. Remember that what makes hand-painted nail art so special is it has a handmade quality to it. Daisy Nail Design:

Supplies:

  • Sheer nude nail polish
  • Deep green nail polish
  • Lighter green nail polish
  • White nail polish
  • Orange nail polish
  • Pink nail polish
  • Thin brush tool
  • Top coat

Instructions:

Step 1: On clean, dry nails, apply a sheer nude polish (on all nails).

Step 2: Using a deep green nail polish and a thin brush tool, draw leaf stems coming from the top right corner of your thumb. Repeat on your index finger.

Step 3: Using a lighter green add more leaf stems from the other darker stems. Repeat on your index finger.

Step 4: Using the same deep green polish as before, paint leaves from the dark leaf stems. Repeat on your index finger.

Step 5: Now go in using the lighter green and paint leaves from the lighter leaf stems. Repeat on your index finger.

Step 6: Time for the details! To make your leaves come to life, outline the leaves in the opposite color. For example, the light leaves get a dark green outline and the dark leaves get light details.

Step 7: Using a white polish, create elongated, almond-shaped flower petals to form blooming flowers and full flowers. Repeat on your index finger.

Tip: When using white polish for nail art, it is important to use a highly pigmented formula. (Essie, Nails Inc, and Opi make great options.)

Step 8: Using a black polish and fine-tip brush tool, outline each petal. Repeat on all flowers.

Tip: When creating fine lines or tiny details it is important to keep your brush clean in between each line. Keep a lint-free pad saturated in nail polish remover close by, to clean off excess polish after each use. This will help achieve clean lines and curves.

Step 9: Using orange polish and pink polish, add little strokes of color sporadically to each flower.

Step 10: Apply top coat.

Tip: When applying top coat on top of nail art, make sure you use a thicker “gel-like” top coat–this way, it doesn’t make the polish bleed and your design stays crisp.
