Modern Gold French Manicure

Published by

We all can use a little pick-me-up right now, and what better way than with a touch of gold? Using negative space and minimal gold polish makes this nail art look super achievable, for now and for later. Even if the “now” is flashing your fresh mani to coworkers during your next Zoom meeting. These modern take on an old classic are such an easy go-to for future events. You will be surprised that with a little bit of practice, anyone can pull this look off at home!

The gold accents can be painted wider or delicate, and you’ll want a nice sheer shade for your nail art base. You may need a thin striper nail art brush for the bottom part of the gold border, which can easily be found online or any nail art supply store.

Supplies:

  • Sheer neutral or blush nail polish (I used 2 coats of Static Nails in “Mademoiselle”)
  • Metallic gold nail polish (I used Cote Polish in “Gold”)
  • Top coat nail polish ( I used Static Nails “Liquid Glass”)
  • Striper Brush

Instructions:

  1. Paint the nail with 2 coats of your favorite sheer natural or blush nail polish, which will need about 3 minutes time to dry between each coat.
  2. You can use the brush in the bottle of the gold nail polish to paint each tip of the nail in a swoop, like the picture as shown.
  3. Next, take a thin striper brush and paint the base of the nail, slanted in the same direction as the tip, as shown in the photo. If you make any mistakes or paint over the nail onto the skin, you can use a small paint brush dipped in pure acetone to clean up any mistakes.
  4. Finally, let your nail art dry for about 5 minutes and top with your favorite top coat!
