These days, we’re all hearing calls to use our voices–but what about using our nails? A manicure is just another way to express yourself and the latest trend in nail art ideas is all about helping get out the vote! This election-themed nail art is a chic and subtle way to remind people that on November 3, voting should be at the top of everyone’s must-haves list. (If they haven’t already voted by mail, absentee, or early in-person, that is.)
If you’re particularly enthusiastic about the election, need something to keep yourself busy, or both, scroll on for the full Vote nail art tutorial. And don’t forget to post your democracy-themed digits on Insta: You may just inspire someone to head to the polls!
Step 1: Using a liner brush start from the cuticle and draw a diagonal line towards the nail tip.
Step 2: Repeat on the other side. Use an angled brush to clean up any messes.
Step 3: Using the brush from the nail polish bottle, put a drop in the center of the nail. Then use a liner brush to spread out the polish to make it more circular.
Step 4: Paint on the two eyes, then add the mouth.
Step 5: First paint on the top horizontal line of the T.
Step 6: Then draw an upside-down L on less than half side of the Horizontal T.
Step 7: Repeat the upside-down L on the other side of the T to complete it.
Step 8: Paint a box and then two lines across the box to create the letter E.
Step 9: Using the nail polish brush, you can paint the top half of the nail as it’s easier than the bottom half
Step 10: Now using a liner brush, paint in the outside part of the E.
Step 11: Trace the star shape onto the nail.
Step 12: Use the polish bottle brush to paint the outside of the star.
Step 13: Use a liner brush to fill in the rest of the outside of the star.
