DIY Beaded Headpiece

DIY Beaded Headpiece:

Tired of your tiara? Try an elegant beaded crown instead for your upcoming prom or wedding. Nothing could be more feminine and Bohemian all at once!

Materials:

• • Soft tape measure
  • 18 gauge wire
  • 24 gauge wire
  • Freshwater pearls
  • Rhinestone beads
  • Pliers
  • Fresh flowers of your choice

Directions

• • 1. Using the soft tape measure, measure the circumference of your head where you would like the headpiece to lay. (Ours is based on a 24″ measurement.)
    2. Using the 18 gauge wire, measure three times your head measurement (ours was 72″ long) and clip from the spool. Wrap this length of wire around itself to create an oval (three wires thick) the size of your head. To secure the ends, twist the last 1/2″ tightly around the loop twice, and clip off any excess.
    3. Decide your bead pattern in advance and lay them out. Measure a piece of the 24 gauge wire twice as long as your head measurement (ours was 48″ long). To get started, twist one end of the 24 gauge wire 2-3 times around your wire oval.
    4. Twine the thin wire around the oval until you get to where you want to place your first bead. Thread the bead on the wire and secure it by looping the thin wire tightly against the side of the bead. Continue beading, leaving as much or as little space between beads as you’d like.
    5. When you get to the end, wrap the wire tightly three times, and clip off the excess.
    6. Add fresh flowers of your choice by pinning them in your hair, or wiring them to the headpiece.
