One thing we love about nail art is that there are so many new techniques to learn all the time. If you stop thinking of nail polish in those little applicator bottles and start thinking of it as &#8220;paint&#8221; there&#8217;s endless ways to put it on! This week we test out using drinking straws to get a splattered look. The fun part is that it&#8217;s different looking every time &amp; it&#8217;s really easy to do. So check &nbsp;it out &amp; learn how to make your own Jackson Pollock on your nails this week \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the look we&#8217;re going for:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails00.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails01.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>What you&#8217;ll need:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>a base colour (we used grey)<\/li>\n<li>two splatter colours (we used neon pink and green)<\/li>\n<li>a top coat<\/li>\n<li>a straw<\/li>\n<li>some tape<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails02.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Start with a few coats of your base colour. Make sure that it&#8217;s completely dry before continuing.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails03.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"357\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Snip your straws into a more manageable length. You&#8217;ll need one per colour that you&#8217;ll be splattering.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails04.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"357\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Then take three individual pieces of tape and cover your finger, taping as close as possible to the nail edges.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails05.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Do the same to all of your nails!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails06.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"353\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Now, drop some nail polish onto a flat surface covered with some scrap paper. Then dip in your straw!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails07.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"363\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Put the straw to your mouth &amp; blow quickly to &#8220;splash&#8221; some colour onto your nail.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails08.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"362\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Dip your straw &amp; repeat with all fingers until you get enough coverage.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails09.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Do the same with your next colour! Drop &amp; dip &amp; blow!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails10.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"356\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Repeat on all nails again until you&#8217;re happy with the distribution of colours \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails11.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Then carefully peel off all of the tape. This should have protected your fingers from all the excess nail polish flinging around!<\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/splatternails00.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p>Just top coat &amp; you&#8217;re done!
