We\u2019re absolutely loving ponytails for a simple yet chic hairstyle for special occasions! With prom<\/a> just around the corner, we wanted to share our latest favorite take on the classic ponytail. This version features a soft texture and tousled volume for a romantic look with a little bit of an edge. Read on to get the full steps for this prom perfect hairstyle!<\/p>\n\"Prom<\/a>\n

Steps:<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. If your natural hair texture is straight or wavy, start with clean, air-dried hair. If you have naturally curly hair, blow out clean hair with a round brush for a sleeker starting point. <\/li>\n
  2. Add texture to hair by wrapping 1-inch sections around a 1\u00bd-2 inch barrel curling iron. The result should be loose waves. If your waves are slightly springier, don\u2019t worry! As you continue working with the hairstyle the waves will loosen to a more natural finish.<\/li>\n\"Prom<\/a>\n
  3. After curling all of your hair, gather the top section, starting at the arches of your eyebrows and ending at the back of the crown, creating a V shape. Twist and clip out of the way.<\/li>\n
  4. Gather the remaining loose hair into a high ponytail at the back of your crown. Secure firmly with a hair tie, but be careful to keep some texture on the sides.<\/li>\n\"Prom<\/a>\n
  5. Once the ponytail is secure, unclip the top portion of your hair and with a fine-tooth comb or teasing comb, lightly backcomb the underside of the top section. This will add volume and texture to the top of the hairstyle.\u00a0Split the top section into two halves on the left and right side of your head.<\/li>\n
  6. Take the right section of hair and loosely twist back toward the ponytail. Secure in place with bobby pins.<\/li>\n\"Prom<\/a>\n
  7. Repeat Step 6 on the left side of the head.<\/li>\n
  8. You should now have two loose ends of hair pinned at the top of the ponytail. Take these loose ends and lightly wrap around the base of the ponytail, covering the hair tie. Pin ends in place with bobby pins, being sure to secure them through the base of the ponytail for a firm hold.<\/li>\n\"Prom<\/a>\n
  9. Review your hair in a mirror (it helps to have a handheld mirror or phone camera to check out the back!) and lightly adjust pieces until you have your desired texture. Spray with texturizing spray to help strands maintain their tousled appearance. You may also want to secure the hairstyle with firm hold hairspray.<\/li>\n
