Ahead, here’s how to prepare for prom so you’ll be able to enjoy the night without going into debt!<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Start early.<\/h2>\n

Start saving for prom as early as six months ahead of time. Write down a list of all expenses to figure out exactly what prom costs. W<\/span>ith estimates for things like the dress<\/a>, accessories<\/a>, hair and makeup, limo, and more, you’ll know what your approximate total will be (researching local businesses like florists and asking older pals what they spent can help give you an idea).<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Figure out who is paying for what.<\/h2>\n

Are your parents helping with prom costs? Are you splitting certain expenses with your date? How much are prom tickets and is dinner included in the price? Once you know the amount you\u2019re responsible for, you can get started working toward that goal.<\/p>\n

Depending on your choice of where to get a corsage for prom, this floral finishing touch can range anywhere from around $25 to upwards of $50. If the local florist charges more than you want to spend, try taking a trip to the grocery and craft stores to <\/span>make your own boutonniere or corsage<\/span><\/a>\u00a0or bouquet<\/a> Be sure to leave yourself some time (the day before or day of) since flowers should be fresh.<\/span><\/p>\n

12. Nail a faux manicure.<\/span><\/h2>\n

Self-tanning lotion from the drugstore is a much more affordable alternative. Start ahead of time so you can get an idea of how deep a shade you want–and how long it lasts!<\/p>\n

14. Avoid limo rental.<\/span><\/h2>\n

If a fancy ride to prom isn\u2019t on your must-have list (they want how<\/em> much to rent a limo for prom?), find an older sibling or family member who\u2019s willing to drive you and a few friends. Or use a ride-hailing service like <\/span>Lyft<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Uber<\/span><\/a>, or <\/span>Juno<\/span><\/a> to take you safely there and back.<\/span><\/p>\n

15. Do dinner on the cheap.<\/h2>\n

If dinner isn\u2019t included with the cost of prom tickets, websites like <\/span>Restaurant.com<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Groupon<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>LivingSocial<\/span><\/a> let you score deals on dining out.
