Varying shades of flaxen tresses have been trending for some time now, but there’s yet another iteration of platinum blonde hair<\/a> that’s emerged on the beauty<\/a> scene–and it’s about to let you channel your inner Khaleesi. Yep, Scandinavian blonde hair–or ‘Scandi blonde’ as it’s come to be known–is currently an ‘It’ hair hue.<\/p>\n

This bright, white<\/a> blonde is all of a sudden everywhere, which is only somewhat<\/em> surprising given how all things Nordic have permeated the collective consciousness, from ‘Scandi style’ to cozy<\/a>, hygge<\/em> everything. No matter what’s actually spurred the Scandinavian blonde hair color craze, there’s no denying that this haute\u00a0hue is currently the most of-the-moment way to lighten up for spring<\/a> and summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So how exactly does one go about nailing the ‘Scandi blonde’ look? We recommend heading to an expert–and of course, it always helps to do some research first. 1. Remember: Scandinavian = Platinum.<\/strong> This look isn’t necessarily an alternative to platinum blonde hair color but rather, a more amped-up version. According to Brierly, “‘Scandi blonde’ is the ultimate ‘pure’ blonde.\u00a0Technically this is platinum blonde but keeping it with a clean, fresh look.”<\/p>\n

2. Make the color work for you.\u00a0<\/strong>Don’t feel tied down in your quest for Scandinavian blonde hair. If bright, white blonde doesn’t work well with your complexion, Brierly says you’ve got wiggle room. “Unlike the silvery trend, ‘Scandi blonde’ is adaptable and flattering to so much more than just one skin tone,” she says, “You can customize the color to be more creamy and buttery or on the icier side depending on your preferences. Cooler and fairer skin tones are preferable but can be adapted to a mixture of other tones. Scandi blonde is a range from pure white to cool, buttery blonde which does allow a [wide variety] of people with different skin tones, eye colors,\u00a0and hair<\/a> lengths to try the trend.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

3. Be willing to commit to the look. <\/strong>“To achieve this look, it\u2019s an investment,” cautions Brierly, “To be ‘Scandi blonde’ it’s going to take time and regular maintenance. Make sure you\u2019re ready to make the financial commitment.”<\/p>\n

4. Don’t try this at home. <\/strong>Brierly\u00a0warns against attempting an at-home Scandinavian blonde hair dye job. “I personally never recommend at-home bleaching and believe it should be left to a skilled professional,” she says. “Everyone\u2019s journey to achieving this can vary from just one session to multiple. Depending on the level of your hair, the darker your hair color, the more sessions with your stylist it will take.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

5. Find your hair-color role model. <\/strong>Look to celebs for inspiration and examples of ‘Scandi’ hair color done right, “like\u00a0Russian model Sasha Luss, Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga, Rita Ora, Cara\u00a0Delevingne, and Karlie Kloss,” says Brierly.<\/div>\n

6. Protect your tresses.<\/strong>\u00a0 The Scandinavian-blonde hair process doesn’t end at the salon<\/a>, according to Brierly. “At-home<\/a> care is very important with being this blonde,” she notes, “Make sure you\u2019re using reparative haircare to keep your strands strong and healthy. Also, using a violet-based shampoo will help keep your color fresh and shiny in between appointments with your stylist. I personally love Fanola\u00a0No Yellow Shampoo<\/a> or Davines Alchemic Purple Shampoo<\/a> and conditioner<\/a> for a more gentle, everyday use.”<\/div>\n
