I think we\u2019ve all had them at least once in our childhoods! This version is just as easy to make, but I\u2019ve amped them up a bit to make an incredibly fun, festive Halloween dessert. &#8216;Tis the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/categories\/907\/fall-fashion.html\">season<\/a> to be spooky, after all.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-242884\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/halloween-dirt-cups-6869.jpg\" alt=\"halloween dirt cups with pudding and oreos and toppings\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1500\" \/>\n<p>The pudding filling for these cups is super simple&#8211;no baking required. It\u2019s just pudding mix, Cool Whip, milk, and Oreo cookies. (Yum!)<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-242882\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/halloween-dirt-cups-6710.jpg\" alt=\"bowl of oreo pudding for halloween\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1500\" \/>\n<p>As for toppings for these Halloween dirt cups, they can be whatever you want! I\u2019ve included directions in the recipe below for you to decorate your dessert cups with cute bats, spooky <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/recipes\/halloween-cupcake-ideas\/\">ghosts<\/a>, a sincere <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/recipes\/pumpkin-bread-with-cream-cheese\/\">pumpkin<\/a> patch, or something as quick as gummy worms and spiders. (Trust me, I\u2019m <em>not<\/em> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/categories\/299\/special-occasion.html\">fancy<\/a> decorator type of person when to comes to dessert&#8211;but even I could handle these).<\/p>\n<p>Scroll on for all the instructions to make this delicious Halloween dessert. Enjoy your dirt cups&#8211;and enjoy your holiday!<\/p>\n<h2>Halloween Dirt Cups:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Prep time:<\/strong> 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yield:<\/strong> 6 servings<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-242885\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/halloween-dirt-cups-7217.jpg\" alt=\"halloween dirt cups with bats, pumpkins, worms, and oreos\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1500\" \/>\n<h3>Ingredients:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Pudding:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 package instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9-ounce box)<\/li>\n<li>2 cups cold milk<\/li>\n<li>1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed (do this in the fridge overnight)<\/li>\n<li>30 Oreos, divided in half<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Toppings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bats:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Peanut Butter Cups<\/li>\n<li>Oreos<\/li>\n<li>Eyeball Sprinkles<\/li>\n<li>Frosting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ghosts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oreos<\/li>\n<li>Eyeball Sprinkle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Pumpkin Patch:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Green frosting<\/li>\n<li>Candy pumpkins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other Options:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Candy Corn<\/li>\n<li>Gummy Worms<\/li>\n<li>Gummy Spiders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-242889\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/halloween-dirt-cups-7350.jpg\" alt=\"pudding cups with oreos and halloween decorations like pumpkins, ghosts, bats\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1500\" \/>\n<h3>Instructions:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1. For the pudding:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add the pudding mix to a large mixing bowl. Add the milk and whisk for 2 minutes to dissolve the pudding mix. Let stand for 5 minutes to thicken up.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in the whipped topping. Crush 15 of the Oreos (leave them chunky&#8211;it makes for nice texture!) and stir them in.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon the mixture into 6 glasses or bowls.<\/li>\n<li>Crush the remaining 15 Oreos more finely, using a food processor. Sprinkle over the tops of the pudding mixture in the cups, except if creating the pumpkin patch decorations. I found that it was easier to pipe the frosting onto the pudding (otherwise, it sticks to the Oreo dirt and pulls it out of the cup) and then sprinkle the Oreo dirt around after.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. To make ghosts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use the remaining Oreo halves with the Oreo cream to make the ghosts.<\/li>\n<li>Stick on the sprinkle eyes!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. To make a pumpkin patch:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a grass piping tip and pipe green frosting in patches all over the pudding in the cup.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle the Oreo dirt in between the grass patches and add candy pumpkins!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4. To make bats:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Twist a few Oreos apart. Slice the side without the Oreo cream in half.<\/li>\n<li>Use a little frosting to attach each piece to the back of a peanut butter cup, and add a dot of frosting to stick on the sprinkle eyes.<\/li>\n<li>Use a grass piping tip and pipe green frosting in patches all over the pudding in the cup.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle the Oreo dirt in between the grass patches and add candy pumpkins!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5. Other ideas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Top the dirt with gummy worms, bats, skeletons, or any other decorations you like!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>6. Serve and store:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enjoy immediately! These are best when fresh, but you can store leftovers in the fridge for 1-2 days, covered.
