Halloween is a great time for costumes<\/a>, candy, and a little (friendly) competition. Now that we\u2019re all a little too old for trick-or-treating, it\u2019s time to focus our Halloween<\/a> festivities on spooktacular, grown-up fun. From trivia to drinking<\/a> games, here are 10 Halloween game for adults that you can play within your household, socially distanced outside, or even virtually with friends near and far.<\/p>\n

Halloween Games for Adults:<\/h2>\n

Halloween Movie Trivia<\/strong><\/p>\n

Test everyone\u2019s knowledge of Halloween movies<\/a> either in person or over video chat. Create a trivia game that asks questions like: What are the first names of the Sanderson sisters in Hocus Pocus? When was the original Halloween movie released? Which ghostbuster made the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man come to life? You can have different difficulty and point levels and the winner gets bragging rights and\/or a gift card to download their Halloween movie of choice.<\/p>\n

Scavenger Hunt<\/strong><\/p>\n

Create a scavenger hunt by making a list of Halloween-themed things to find around the house (pumpkin<\/a>-scented candles, something with a skeleton on it, a witch hat, etc.). Split into teams and have each team take photos of their finds. The team who finds everything on the list first, or whichever team finds the most items, wins,<\/p>\n

Halloween-Theme Pictionary or Charades<\/strong><\/p>\n

These typical party<\/a> games can be adjusted to have a Halloween theme. Divide everyone into teams (again, either in person or virtually) and assign a moderator who can keep time, assign things to draw\/act out, or judge. The team with the most points after five rounds (or however many you decide on), wins.<\/p>\n

For Pictionary, create a list of Halloween objects to draw, whether that\u2019s a pumpkin<\/a>, flying witch, haunted house, etc. Give each team a minute to draw and guess the clue.<\/p>\n

Similarly for Charades, create a list of Halloween objects but also throw in Halloween movie titles or characters to make it more interesting. Give each team a minute to guess the clue, or give each team a few minutes to act out as many clues as possible.<\/p>\n\"woman\n

Costume Contest<\/strong><\/p>\n

Costumes are arguably the best part of Halloween and there’s no reason not to dress up, even if there are no big Halloween parties to attend. Come up with a list of superlatives ahead of time, such as \u201cMost Creative Costume,\u201d \u201cScariest Getup,\u201d \u201cMost WTF Costume,\u201d etc. Do a drive-by or virtual costume<\/a> contest over video chat, and have everyone vote on their favorites. You can also all take selfies and put them on a Pinterest board or create a shared group photo album.<\/p>\n

Halloween Movie Drinking Game<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pick your favorite Halloween movie and create a drinking game out of it! Load up on snacks and curl up on the couch for an interactive movie night<\/a> in. Make a list of various things that happen in Halloween movies. For example, every time someone screams, kills, gets killed, or makes a terrible decision in the middle of a scary situation, everyone has to take a shot. Depending on the film, you can also have each person pick a character, and any time that character screams or is put in danger, you take a shot. To watch with friends from afar, you can use a browser plugin like Netflix party, which syncs Netflix video playback and allows group chat. And best of all, no one has to be the designated driver afterward!<\/p>\n

Pumpkin Bean Bag Toss<\/strong><\/p>\n

Turn your carved pumpkins into a fun game. Get a few pumpkins and carve faces with large mouths so they look like they\u2019re screaming. Then get some bean bags and try to toss them into the pumpkins\u2019 open mouths. Experiment with different sized pumpkins or by putting them at various distances or heights to make it more challenging.<\/p>\n

Eyeball Beer Pong<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beer pong combines hand-eye coordination, a little luck, and a lot of drinking (at least for the losing team). Break out your plastic cups, a spill-resistant table, and some plastic eyeballs (or DIY your own with ping pong balls and food dye). Split up into teams on opposite sides of the table and toss the eyeballs into the cups in front of the other team. Set up a table outside or try a virtual version with each team only setting up half a table. Bonus if the liquid inside the cups is pumpkin-flavored.<\/p>\n

Board Games<\/strong><\/p>\n

Game nights always bring a sense of nostalgia, and you can create new Halloween memories by playing a board game dressed in costume. Try something themed like Ghostbusters The Board Game, The Nightmare Before Christmas Operation, Escape Room in a Box: The Werewolf Experiment, or go with a classic like the crowd-pleaser whodunit mystery game, Clue.<\/p>\n

Trick or Treat Shots<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fill a series of shot glasses with various mystery drinks, whether they\u2019re jello shots (with or without booze) or original cocktails. Don\u2019t be afraid to get creative or weird with the ingredients \u2014 hot sauce, melted candy corn, etc. Guests take turns trying out the various drinks, and they won\u2019t know which are tricks and which are treats until they take a sip. If you\u2019re doing a virtual version, you can share menus and recipes ahead of time and watch each other\u2019s reactions to tasting the concoctions. You can also tie this to another game, such as trivia or Pictionary, where the winning team gets to choose which shots the losing team has to drink.<\/p>\n

Mystery Box<\/strong><\/p>\n

Put all those empty Amazon boxes you have laying around to good use. Fill various boxes with random things like slime, cooked noodles, jello, etc. and then have guests dare to stick their hands inside the boxes and try to guess what they\u2019re touching. When you can\u2019t see what you\u2019re reaching for, trust us, cold noodles feel a lot grosser than you\u2019d think!<\/p>\n
