Healing bath rituals are an ancient tradition in many cultures including Japan, Russia, and Norway \u2013 well-known for their incomparable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/destigmatizing-mental-health-therapy\/\">therapeutic<\/a> benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, though, you don&#8217;t need to travel across the world to reap the rewards of an ancient bath ritual. In fact, you can perform this sacred tradition wherever and whenever you want, even if it&#8217;s just from the comfort of your own bathroom. \u201c\u200bA sacred bath ritual is a great way to create space to recenter,\u201d says Paulette Sherman, author of \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/w\/the-book-of-sacred-baths-paulette-kouffman-sherman-psyd\/1122705371\"><em>The Book of Sacred Baths: 52 Bath Rituals to Revitalize Your Spirit\u200b.<\/em><\/a> \u201cThere are bath rituals for every area of your life, including health, relationships, goals, career, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/self-care-activities\/\">self-love<\/a>, and guidance. According to <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pinterest<\/a>, searches for \u201cspiritual cleansing bath\u201d rose 180 percent last year, along with a 60 percent increase in \u201cbath tea recipes\u201d and a 145 percent increase for \u201cdeep soaking tubs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This may, in large part, be due to the fact that so many people are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/categories\/5476\/the-stay-in-shop.html\">staying home<\/a> now, due to the restrictions for the pandemic. So, rather than booking their usual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/beauty\/at-home-spa-ideas-self-care-products\/\">spa treatments<\/a>, they&#8217;re looking at social media for ways to help relieve stress and anxiety. \u201cCOVID has been a time of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/social-connection-how-to-cope-with-loneliness\/\">loneliness<\/a>, fear and uncertainty for many,\u201d says Sherman. \u201cIt has caused stress and most people are living in fight-or-flight mode, which is not good for our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/immune-boosting-foods\/\">immune<\/a> system. Add essential oils<\/h2>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/products\/unwind-serenity-blend-essential-oil\/1373136.html\">Essential oils<\/a> reach your amygdala and limbic system and can shift your mood and emotions. You can mix them with Epsom salt to detoxify during your bath ritual. Using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/products\/hydrating-lavender-facial-tonic\/659102.html\">lavender<\/a> essential oil can be relaxing and orange essential oil can lift your mood. By calling in your Higher Self during the bath ritual, you can access wisdom about situations from a higher consciousness and gain a broader, more loving perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>2. Incorporate natural elements<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe five elements and five senses can be incorporated into your bath ritual. Earth, air, fire, water, and Spirit are represented. The water in the tub is water, the fire from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/categories\/99_2346\/home-novelty.html\">candle<\/a> is fire, the air from burning incense is air, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/crystals-101-your-guide-to-everything-crystals\/\">crystal<\/a> can be earth and your Spirit can be prayer. The senses are all engaged through smell with the oils, touch with the water, hearing through music, and taste through a tea ritual following the bath while you journal. This can balance the elements in your bath and delight your senses. It creates an overall sense of balance and centeredness.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>3. Create a sacred space<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cTo prepare your bath, first create a sacred space. Clean the bathtub and the bathroom area. Light a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/products\/sweet-balsam-soy-wax-candle\/1375716.html\">candle<\/a> and incense, if you wish. Play calming music. Enjoy the solitude<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cBefore climbing in, begin with a brief prayer or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/keep-calm-and-carry-on-with-these-5-free-meditation-apps\/\">meditation<\/a> where you surround yourself with light and love so only the highest good will come through. You can invoke the five elements and ask that they be balanced for you and in your bath. You can look at your eyes in the mirror before climbing in and send yourself love and gratitude.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>5. Set an intention<\/h2>\n<p>&#8220;You would fill the bath with water and put in a cup of Epsom salt mixed with two drops of orange essential oil to lift your mood and three drops of lavender essential oil for relaxation. If your intention was to create a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/beauty\/self-care-beauty-routine\/\">self-love<\/a> bath, you could put in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/products\/gua-sha-rose-quartz-natural-face-lifting-tool\/1350996.html\">rose quartz<\/a> crystal to promote love and create a prayer and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/meditation-tips-myths-and-benefits\/\">meditation<\/a> about loving yourself. You could call in your Higher Self to ask for wisdom about this. Visualize things you could do on a daily basis to feel and be more loving with yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Afterward, when you get out of the bath, you could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/products\/where-there-s-a-woman-there-s-a-way-black-journal\/1363631.html\">journal<\/a> about any insights you had and that you\u2019d like to incorporate into your life. Meanwhile, you could drink some rosehip tea for unconditional love of self and others.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>6. Explore your options<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThis is just a quick example of how you can take these bath ritual elements and customize them to your intention.
