Like its classic, sun-hat-and-linen-pant-wearing anthesis<\/a>, the Barbiecore fashion trend stems from a movie<\/a>–Greta Gerwig’s 2023 film<\/a> starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. But that’s pretty much where the similarities end for these two looks. Far from the neutral, understated Nancy Meyers aesthetic, Barbiecore is bold, hyper-feminine in the traditional sense of the word, and all about hot pink everything.<\/p>\n

Just a scroll through Pinterest, Instagram<\/a>, or TikTok will show how Mattel’s most famous plastic doll\/fashion icon–and her signature shade–have infiltrated the style zeitgeist. Ever since Valentino revived the pink aesthetic at its Fall\/Winter 2022 collection presentation at Paris Fashion Week, and developed its own Pantone color (“Valentino Pink,” naturally), the bright hue has been everywhere<\/em>.
