Try this DIY for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/holiday\">holiday<\/a> time, keep it up through the rest of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/categories\/4810\/winter-clothing-essentials.html\">winter<\/a> season!<\/p>\n<h2>Dried Orange Garland<\/h2>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">Supplies:<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-245677\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/unnamed-1-darker-scissors.jpg\" alt=\"supplies for dried orange slice garland diy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1333\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scissors<\/li>\n<li>8-10 large oranges (sliced)<\/li>\n<li>Bread knife (makes cutting easy-peasy)<\/li>\n<li>Cutting board<\/li>\n<li>Paper towel<\/li>\n<li>Baking racks (the key to faster cooking)<\/li>\n<li>Floral wire (Hack: Takes the place of a leather needle\/hemp twine)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">Instructions:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>SLICE<\/strong>: Preheat your oven to 250 degrees. While it\u2019s heating up, slice your oranges into rounds that are about 1\/4 inch thick!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-245680\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/unnamed-3-copy.jpg\" alt=\"orange slices baking in oven\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1364\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>BAKE:<\/strong> Lay the slices out on a baking rack and blot them dry with a paper towel. (If you don\u2019t have baking racks you can use a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper\u2014you\u2019ll just need more time for cooking). Pop the slices into your 250-degree oven, checking and flipping each slice every 30-45 minutes for 2.5-3 hours. Oven temperatures can be different. I did three trays at a time on a convection setting of 250.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COOL:<\/strong> You\u2019ll know they\u2019re done when the middle is no longer wet and shiny! Take them out and let the slices cool. Some may burn, just toss those\u2014but keep the ones that are \u201cburnt orange\u201d in color because it\u2019ll make your garland more unique! The most important thing is that they\u2019re dry.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-245681\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/unnamed-5-copy.jpg\" alt=\"stringing dried orange slices\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1342\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>STRING:<\/strong> Typically, people would thread the orange slices onto a heavy-duty string\/hemp rope using a leather or crochet needle. I\u2019m cutting the steps here and using floral wire! It\u2019s basically like having a built-in needle. I had gold floral wire on hand, so I used that.<\/p>\n<p>Use its end to poke through one side of the \u201cflesh\u201d part of the slice across to the other side. Keep going until you reach your desired length! Floral wire can cause the flesh part to rip so be careful when \u201cthreading.&#8221;\u00a0Simply make a loop at the end and wind your wire around so you don\u2019t leave a sharp edge.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-245683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lulus.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/unnamed-7-copy.jpg\" alt=\"dird orange garland hanging above fireplace with greenery\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1314\" \/>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>HANG:<\/strong> Hang them anywhere\u2014your fireplace, window, bed frame, mirror, etc!\u00a0 You can also do this with lemons, limes and grapefruits (cooking times will vary).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Save a few slices to use as potpourri or a cocktail garnish!\u00a0Oranges: not just a soccer snack.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Did you try this DIY?
