The tastes of fall are around. <br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Beautiful, luscious pears are perfectly in season, with a soft and sugary flesh that is ready to hop on into your lunch sack or cooking pot!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Last week, I made delicious poached pears and ate them sliced on top of salads and for dessert all week.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">This recipe is so easy, you&#8217;ll have to pretend you slaved all day when you serve them to your guests!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"260\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/Pears.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"><strong>Recipe for Poached Pears<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong>&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Bartlett or D&#8217;Anjou Pears <br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Red Wine (Zinfandel or Pinot Noir is very nice!)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Sugar<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"> Cinnamon Sticks<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"><strong>Directions:<\/strong> Peel pears, slice them in half and take out the cores.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Lay them in a saucepan with red wine barely covering. Add 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks and approx. 1 Tbs. of sugar per pear. <br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Bring pot to a low simmer and cook for 30-60 mins turning occasionally until pears are soft. Let them cool in the pan, then remove pears and cinnamon. Chill pears or serve warm. <br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">Simmer wine mixture until it is slightly thick and syrupy. Serve syrup over pears, or use it for a rich vinaigrette! <br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/images\/blog\/IMG_3598.JPG\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\"><strong>Tip: <\/strong>To ripen pears faster, put your pears in a single layer inside a box or flat dish lined in newspaper. Top with another layer of newspaper.
