Who has time to get a blowout every week, or even do a blowout at home? Even if you had the time, do you have the patience, skill, and equipment, doing your own blowout can be a total pain. But the look of freshly blown-out locks is pretty addictive once you have tried it once.

I wanted to be able to achieve a going-out-ready blowout in just a few minutes whenever I felt like it, so I set out to figure out how I could fake a blowout! The results are pretty spectacular if I do say so myself, so keep reading if you want to learn how to give your hair volume, shine, and texture without doing a full professional blowout.

Faux Blowout

You Will Need:

  • 1 metal duckbill clip
  • 3 hair ties or scrunchies

Instructions:

Step 1: Section out face-framing pieces by pulling the hair that would make up your bangs (if you had them) to the front of your face.

Step 2: Part the remaining hair into three sections, following the line from the temples to the back of the head to create two side sections and a rectangular center section on the top of the head. Pull each section loosely into a hair tie. Keep the ties loose to prevent creasing.

Step 3: The end result should be four sections: face-framing pieces, a center section pulled into a ponytail, and two side sections pulled into pigtails.

Step 4: Using a 1.25—1.5 inch curling iron, curl the front face-framing section away from the face and up. Secure with a clip at the top of your forehead.

Step 5: Use the same technique to curl the top/center ponytail, then remove the hair tie and let the hair down.

Step 6: Separate each side ponytail into two sections—front and back. Curl the back sections away from the face and the front sections toward your face. Remove the hair ties.

Step 7: Gently brush through to loosen the curl with your fingers, and set with your favorite finishing spray.
