Wedding season is here, and whether you’re the bride, a bridesmaid, or guest attending the celebration, finishing off your look with gorgeous nails is basically a necessity. It’s all in the details, right? Right. And minty green flower designs are perfect for having a little nail art fun while still looking totally elegant.
I love flower nails for brides; small floral accents make a subtle, romantic statement that can pair with virtually any bridal dress without distracting from your overall wedding look. Plus, the soft green of this design feels especially fresh for spring and summer.
They’re perfect for modern brides, but these nails can really complement any look. When you want a mani that’s simple and chic–and you can do yourself–give this look a try! Here’s what you’ll need to create your own flower nail art at home:
Step 1: For the longest-lasting manicure, prep your nails first. Shape your nails, push back your cuticles, and remove any oils on the nail with a bit of acetone or polish remover.
Step 2: Apply one thin layer of base coat.
Step 3: Apply two thin layers of Essie’s Sugar Daddy on each nail. Let them dry.
Step 4: On your nail polish palette (this can be a piece of foil or plastic), place some of Essie’s Can Dew Attitude. Grabbing your dotting tool, dip into the mint green shade and place your first dot on the nail where you want to start placing flowers.
Step 5: Around that initial dot, continue placing five more dots to create petals. Make sure you leave enough space between the petals so the flower maintains a distinct shape. (Tip: Don’t forget to periodically clean off your dotting tool in acetone and wipe off built-up polish. This will ensure a more crisp dot and uniform shape.)
Step 6: This is where you can let your creativity shine! Continue placing flowers around the perimeter of the nail, but keep it relatively minimal.
Step 7: Try placements along the top edge of the nail, curving along the right edge of the nail. Be sure to switch up the placements on each nail for variety.
Step 8: Using Essie’s Pre-Show Jitters and the dotting tool, place white dots in the center of each nail. Let the design have some extra time to dry so the top coat doesn’t pull on any of your flowers!
Step 9: Top with a glossy top coat.
Step 10: Finish with cuticle oil!
