When planning your wedding look, the obvious centerpiece is the dress– and you need a hairstyle that perfectly complements your gown. If you’ve opted for a high neckline, then you need a hairstyle that shows off the intricate details of the dress you’ve chosen! I’m in love with this wedding hair for high neck dresses. It’s a graceful, sleek braided bun that looks elegant and polished, and is easy enough that you can do it yourself! You don’t need any techniques more complicated than basic rope braiding.

You will need:

  • Root coverup
  • Alligator clips (optional)
  • A comb

Instructions:

  1. Part your hair to the side, whichever side you prefer.
  2. Tease the crown of your hair. Not too much– you only want a little volume, nothing too extreme!
  3. Use your smoothing lotion or spray to comb your hair, setting it behind your ears. As you’re combing and smoothing, you can use alligator clips to secure the length of your hair and hold it before you put it in the ponytail.
  4. Take the length of your hair and secure it in a ponytail.
  5. Use root cover up to perfect the hairline. Even if you don’t have dyed hair, root coverup will help keep your hairline sleek and smooth, preventing tiny flyaways.
  6. Create a sleek rope braid. To make a rope braid, you will start by dividing your hair into two sections. Then, twist each section in one direction and wrap them around each other in the opposite direction.
  7. Smooth the rope braid as you go. The smoothing process is very important here; you want to avoid any flyaways as you braid. Use smoothing spray and hairspray to tame any frizz as you go. Use a clear elastic to secure the ends.
  8. Wrap the braid into a bun and pin it in place with jumbo bobby pins.

I think this style looks amazing on its own, but you can dress it up even further with decorated hair pins or even a bow if you want to. It’s a feminine, elegant way to style your hair for a high neck dress whether it’s your wedding, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner–or any special occasion!
