This Metallic Magenta Mani Is Absolutely *Stellar*: See How to DIY Starburst Nails This Season

This look calls for both magenta and your favorite shimmer shade, which means that it’s a great way to show off your personality and preferences. This is a simple but highly effective nail art look that’s beginner-friendly; this mani only uses two colors and does not require any advanced techniques. All you need is your polish, a dotting tool, and a detail brush. 

Magenta Metallic Nails

Supplies:

• Your favorite shade of shimmer or glitter nail polish
• Metallic magenta nail polish
• Your favorite top coat
• Dotting tool
• Detail brush

Instructions:

To get this fun nail art look that doubles as a festival/prom look, follow these easy steps.

1. Always start any manicure with nail prep. Clean up any dry skin from your nail beds, oil and push back your cuticles, and wipe the nail plate clean of any oils or residues. This will ensure that your polish goes on evenly and adheres well.
2. Use your favorite shimmer shade as the base and apply two coats. Allow them to dry completely before applying the magenta polish.
3. Take the magenta polish and begin the French tip. Using a detail brush, start the curve of the French tip in the middle of the nail and draw a curved line outward to the edge of the nail. Then connect another curved line from the other edge of the nail and connect it with the existing line towards the center. This will allow you to correct the outline of the French tip if it needs to be adjusted.
4. Fill in the French tip with the magenta polish. Allow it to dry.
5. For the stars, start with a magenta dot in the corner of the nail.
6. Use the detail brush to add a thin line on the top, bottom, and sides of the center dot.
7. When filling in the star, take your time and create a thicker line coming from the center and tapering the line as it gets closer to the edge. This will allow the star to have finer points and an equal point in the center.
8. On nails that don’t feature a star, use the detail brush to create elongated magenta spots– or leave the nail as-is to feature the shimmer polish!
9. Let your mani dry for a few minutes and finish the look with your favorite top coat!
