Whoever said bigger is always better? The micro-hotel–a hot, new trend in the tourism industry–is proof that living large doesn’t necessarily mean spending a small fortune. Not only are these teeny rooms affordable for budget-conscious travelers (spring break hotels, anyone?), but they often offer luxurious amenities like rooftop pools and chic lounges. Here, I’ve rounded up five of the coolest micro-hotels in the country, all of which offer stylish, Insta-worthy accommodations for a fraction of the price of a standard hotel room.

The rooms may be small but The Hoxton has a big reputation as one of the trendiest micro-hotel chains in the world. The Portland location, situated in historic Old Town Chinatown, is no exception. Every room includes a rainfall shower, iPod docking station, memory foam mattresses, complimentary bottled water, and free premium TV channels. Visitors can also take advantage of the dinner with sweeping city views at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and a fully stocked pantry available for round-the-clock raids.
