Consider this your reminder: Your voice = your power. Women’s Equality Day is a moment to honor the women who fought for our rights, check in on how far we’ve come, and remind ourselves there’s still work to do. At Lulus, we see it as more than history—it’s about real progress, everyday empowerment, and hyping each other up.
Quick history lesson: Women’s Equality Day marks the ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting women the legal right to vote in 1920. That win was decades in the making, thanks to legendary suffragists who refused to be silenced. (Shoutout to Congresswoman Bella Abzug, who helped make Women’s Equality Day official in 1971–since then, presidents have marked the day every single year.)
The fight wasn’t over in 1920, though. Native American women couldn’t vote until 1924, Black women weren’t fully enfranchised until 1965, and language barriers prevented many immigrants from voting until 1975.
Big or small, every choice you make can fuel change. Here are a few ways to tap into your power and uplift the women around you—because progress happens one step (and one voice) at a time.
Lulus has always been a brand by women, for women—and days like this remind us why that matters. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, but we’re even more excited about what’s next when we all keep showing up for each other.
