It’s the holiday season, aka hosting season! One of my favorite ways to put a festive spin on a traditional cheese or charcuterie board is to make it in the shape of a Christmas wreath. It is such a simple, classy, and chic way to lean into the holiday theme.
All you have to do is build your Christmas cheese platter around the edges of a round charcuterie board to create a wreath shape. (Don’t have a round board? Grab a cake stand or parchment paper and cut it into a circle and build it on a cutting board or on your kitchen counter.)

Step 1: Use your ramekins as the base of the board. I used fig jam and caramelized onion jam on one of the sides of the board to build around.
Step 2: Add your cheese! Cheese is the foundation and most important part of the board. Line the edges with different types of cheese in groups so there is an assortment throughout. I used:
Step 3: Add your larger fruit! This is when I like to add grapes and any other fruit that is larger to allow for you to tuck cheese and other things around. Continue to add these items around the edge of the board. I used:
Step 4: Add slices of salami. I add in clusters of 3-4 slices of salami folded so that it is easier for people to grab throughout the board. Since salami doesn’t hold together well, I like to tuck it in between the cheese and fruit already on the board.
Step 5: Include more fruit! At this point, I like to add more fresh fruit to really fill in the board and add color. I used:
Step 6: Add nuts and dried fruit! I use this time to make sure there aren’t any holes left throughout the wreath; if there are, I add either nuts or fruit. I used candied walnuts and dried apricots on this board.
Step 7: Garnish–the last and final step is to garnish your board! I used fresh sage and pink peppercorns for my garnish and to add the last pop of festive color.
Serve this holiday cheese board with lots of crackers on the side, and be sure to have tongs and cheese knives on hand to avoid double dippers!
