You’ve already embraced the return of the scrunchie, but a new throwback hair accessory has officially entered the chat. As seen all over TikTok and Instagram, claw clips are back in a big way. So how do you wear the ’90s hair staple? We turned to longtime Lulus babe and claw clip hairstyle aficionado, Kemper Baugh, of @joandkemp, for tips.

They’re so easy to throw in to add a little detail and cuteness to any outfit.” Ahead, check out her two favorite claw clip hairstyles that are effortlessly chic and so easy to achieve.

Hairstyle #1: Twisted Updo

“I typically have two ways I wear my clips–one is all twisted up in the clip,” Kemper says. Just gather the hair into a low ponytail, twist, fold up the twisted base, and clip the top of the twist against your roots. You can let the rest of your ponytail hang loose over the top of the claw clip. If you have longer hair, this will look less like a French twist and more like a ponytail. See below!

Hairstyle #2: Half-Up

“I basically take a layer of hair as if I were pulling it half up,” says Kemper, “essentially doing the same twist-and-clip technique as when I wear it all up.” You can let loose face-framing pieces hang down, as well, for added texture. Another option for the half-up look? Twist the upper half into a bun and secure it with the claw clip. See below!
