There are plenty of reasons why Hawaii has become one of the most sought-after honeymoon destinations in the world. This tropical paradise boasts miles of powdered sand beaches, five-star restaurants, and world-class resorts and spas. There are also countless activities for couples besides sunbathing including snorkeling, surfing, and sunset volcano tours. Although a Hawaiian getaway can be expensive, it is totally possible to plan a blissful post-nuptial escape on a real-world budget. Here, we rounded up four of our favorite spots for newlyweds to have romantic and affordable Hawaiian vacations.

Maui

It’s no surprise that Conde Nast Traveler voted Maui “Best Island” for over 12 years. Newlyweds can watch the sunset at Mama’s Fish House, indulge in a half-day snorkeling cruise, or take a tour of the Road to Hana, a 64-mile stretch through local rainforest and waterfalls. Book a room at Ka’anapali Alii to enjoy breathtaking oceans views, free parking fully-equipped modern kitchens, and a beachfront swimming pool. Rates start at $389 per night.

Oahu

Oahu is more urban than the other islands, making it the perfect spot to enjoy surfing, beaches, and nightlife. Couples can enjoy live music, fine dining, or shopping at Waikiki Beach just as easily as a peaceful jungle hike to Manoa Falls, horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch, or a tour of the Dole pineapple plantation. Rest up after choosing your own adventure at The Royal Hawaiian, a luxury hotel featuring freshwater swimming pools, a world-class spa, and prime real estate in Waikiki Beach. Rates start at $273 per night.

Kauai

Do you prefer lazy days at the beach to loud nights at the club? Nature hikes to late-night dinners? If so,  Kauai is the perfect place to start married life together. Dubbed the “Garden Isle,” this tropical paradise is filled with cascading waterfalls, lush forests, fern grottos, and breathtaking jungles. Check out the view for yourself at The Westin Princeville Resort Ocean Villas, an eco-friendly resort on the North Shore with two on-site restaurants, an adults-only swimming pool, and complimentary wi-fi. Rates start at $265 per night.

Big Island

The Big Island is 95 miles tall and 80 miles wide, making it twice the size of all of the other Hawaiian islands combined. Honeymooners can enjoy a wide array of activities including sunset cruises, snorkeling excursions, or a tour of Pearl Harbor. Check your bags at the recently renovated Grand Naniloa Resort, which boasts 180-degree panoramic views of Hilo Bay and Maunu Kea, free snorkel gear, two rounds of golf daily, and complimentary cocktails at the Lobby Bar. Rates start at $168 per night.
