This season, we’re all ready to brighten up–and rainbow nail tips feel perfectly on point for summer (and Pride, of course). Colorful, retro nail designs like dotted florals and rainbows are currently trending and this cheery design combines both into one ultra-optimistic mani. Because why not? Rainbows and flowers are the ultimate symbols of hope and brighter days–and we are ready to bloom. Bonus: This look is pretty simple to DIY–and I’m showing you how to achieve it ahead.

By painting just the tips and leaving negative space on the rest of the nail, you’re ensuring your punchy-hue mani stays sophisticated, and not overly sweet. Think of this as the grown-up way to rock the rainbow trend. Scroll on for all the instructions and don’t forget to show off your handiwork!

Rainbow Nail Tips:

Supplies:

• Hot pink nail polish
• Orange nail polish
• Yellow nail polish
• White nail polish
• Light pink nail polish
• Top coat
• Liner brush
• Angled brush
• Bobby pin, dull pencil, or other dotting tool

Instructions:

Step 1: Start by using a liner brush to draw this top line of the rainbow. There’s no need to make it perfect as the second color will go over it!

Step 2: Choose another color to line the second part of the rainbow.

Step 3: Add the third and last colored line to the rainbow nail tip. You can use an angled brush to tidy the rainbow design up at this point.

Step 4: Use a bobby pin, dull pencil, or whatever dotting tool you have to dot five circles of the flowers on both ends of the rainbow.

Step 5: Finally, dot the last middle part of the flower. Wait two minutes for it to dry before you add a top coat.
