Just in time for spring, we teamed up with the TikTok creator to co-curate a collection of effortlessly feminine dresses and separates in fresh florals and soft hues. Lulus: We’re so excited for this collection! For those who may not know you, tell us about yourself.
Kennedy Lyons: I am a 23-year-old nursing student and my content focuses on all things hair, beauty, fashion and lifestyle!
Lulus: And how did you come to partner with Lulus?
KL: My relationship with Lulus goes way back. I’ve been a fan of Lulus since high school, when I used to save up for their dresses for school dances. I love that Lulus has something for everyone and every occasion.
Lulus: How do you define your style? And has it evolved?
KL: I don’t believe I have one particular style: I love trying out new styles! Growing up, I thrifted most of my clothes and wore a lot of my dad’s vintage t-shirts, so I would say my style was quite unconventional. Since then, my style has evolved to be more girly and colorful.
Lulus: It definitely is! How did you go about choose pieces for the collection? Do you have a favorite?
KL: I wanted this collection to represent different aspects of my personal style while still being versatile. My favorite piece would have to be the striped high-neck knit top!
Lulus: There are so many cute spring outfit options in this collection. Do you have a favorite fashion hack or outfit formula?
KL: My favorite fashion hack is adding accessories and chunky shoes to an outfit. One of my go-to outfits is an oversized t-shirt, layered gold jewelry, and ripped jeans with some kind of chunky shoe.
Lulus: You’re also a full-time nursing student in addition to being a content creator–what made you want to go into nursing?
KL: I originally applied to the nursing program because I’ve always had a love for anatomy and pathophysiology. I also really liked how broad the profession is; you don’t have to stay in one particular specialty. I didn’t start social media until the end of my first semester–but I chose to stay in the nursing program. Because as cheesy as it might sound, helping people really does make you feel good and deepens your appreciation for life.
Lulus: Love that. You’ve got a full schedule! How do you balance school and content creation? Do you have any productivity or organization tips for students with a side gig?
KL: My best advice is to take it one day at a time–and don’t be afraid to ask people around you for help.
Lulus: As a nursing student, you always have to wear scrubs. How do you infuse your style into your daily nursing look?
KL: I love doing fun slick hairstyles with bold hair accessories to incorporate my style and bring some excitement into my nursing scrubs.
Lulus: You do the cutest hairstyle tutorials–do you have a favorite or go to?
KL: My favorite hairstyle would have to be two front braids with a slick back bun.
Lulus: What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?
KL: I couldn’t live without my family! They are my biggest supporters and the reason I am able to do what I do.
