It only takes a quick scroll through Instagram to realize that indoor plants are dominating the home decor space. From Instagram accounts fully dedicated to featuring gorgeous plants in homes to retailers that ship houseplants straight to your doorstep, our collective love of plants is only growing stronger. It’s easy to see why: Plants bring color, texture, and good vibes to any room, and with most millennials living in small spaces, its a great way to bring some freshness and greenery into your home. But keeping houseplants alive and lush is not always easy, especially with busy schedules and constant travel. Luckily for us, fake plants have come a long way from the poor-quality faux houseplants of the ’80s and ’90s. Ahead, we’ve rounded up chic, realistic artificial plants for home decor that’s low maintenance and lush looking.

1. Pottery Barn Faux Potted Pothos Houseplant: Pothos are known for their trailing stems but even without that, the bright green shade of the large leaves on this fake version will make an impact in any room. The medium size makes it easy to move around and is great for a shelf or desk.

2. Tiger Lily Blooms String of Pearls: This unique succulent with its trailing ‘pearls’ isn’t the easiest of houseplants to care for in it’s real form, which makes it an ideal choice for a faux plant. Etsy seller Tiger Lily Blooms has made a serious effort to make sure this plant looks natural by giving you the option to select from different lengths, as well as a green or slightly beige colorway for a more realistic effect.

3. Target Opalhouse Artificial Cactus: Every boho house needs a little southwest charm, courtesy of a cactus. Standing at almost two feet tall, this faux potted plant is designed to look just like a mature cactus (Target artificial plants are known for their realism) and will add great visual appeal on the floor of your living room or entryway.

4. CB2 Faux Potted Monstera Plant: Ah, the Monstera: This iconic plant is infamous as far as indoor plants go, and even has its own hashtag (#monsteramonday). The signature swiss-cheese look takes some work and patience to achieve, though. With this faux version, you can display it in all its glory straight from the box.

5. Crate and Barrel Artificial Bird of Paradise Tree: Although more pricey than other options, this large and unusual artificial tree will stay with you for years, without any worry of droopy stems and browning leaves. Add a woven basket planter or a pop of color to really play up the tropical vibes of this gorgeous plant.
