Whether you’re celebrating National Pet Day, National Dog Day, your fur baby’s birthday, or just any old Tuesday (because they deserve to be celebrated always), these Peanut Butter Pupcakes are the perfect treat. Ahead, check out a yummy dog cupcake recipe that’s made with only eight simple ingredients, in one bowl.

Pupcakes are easy and fun to make, and it only takes 30 minutes from start to finish. Even better? Humans can enjoy pupcakes, too–just leave the dog treat off the top. They’re not necessary for pups either, but they do add an extra cute factor.

What’s nice about making homemade treats for your fur babies is that you know they’re made with fresh, dog-friendly ingredients. Just like for humans, it’s important to read ingredient labels when buying pre-made treats. These pupcakes take out the guesswork–and you’ll know your dog will be happy!

All you’ll need for six pupcakes is a banana, peanut butter, oil (like olive, avocado, or coconut), maple syrup or honey, flour, baking powder, and Greek yogurt for the frosting. Just make sure that your peanut does NOT contain Xylitol, as it can be extremely toxic to dogs.

Start by preheating your oven and spraying your muffin liners or tin with a non-stick spray. Then you’ll mash the banana, mix in the peanut butter, then stir in the rest of the ingredients until smooth.

Bake them for 15-20 minutes, or until slightly firm to the touch, then let them cool for 10 minutes before frosting with a combination of Greek yogurt and peanut butter, and topping with an extra treat.

Because this recipe is made without eggs, there’s no risk of anything being undercooked. It makes six regular-sized pupcakes (about half-filled, so on the smaller side), or 12 mini cupcakes. Scroll on for the complete recipe!
