Chic Black Glitter Nails You’ll Want to Wear for Halloween–and Beyond

It’s time to take the most spine-tingling holiday of the year into your own hands–literally. While you might’ve already *nailed* down your Halloween costume and planned the Halloween-party dessert recipe you’re treating guests to this year, you don’t have to wait until October 31st to get into the spooky spirit. With black glitter nails, you can channel your inner Morticia Addams in the chicest way. Bonus: You can start rocking these Halloween nails starting right now and wear them well past November 1–and we’re showing you how.

Who says Halloween nails have to be black and orange anyway? Spoiler alert: Your digits don’t have to be adorned with pumpkins or witches to score a haunting vibe. There are plenty of mani options that look as stylish as they do spooky–and we think these ombre black glitter nails are a prime example. It just so happens that black nail art is also super on-trend this season, so this manicure idea comes at a scary good time.

Ready to try your hand at this glam goth manicure? We don’t blame you. Ahead, get all the instructions on how to DIY your own set of black glitter nails this season.

Black Glitter Nails

Supplies:

  1. Black nail polish (I used Orly’s Liquid Vinyl)
  2. Glitter nail polish (I used OPI’s Coalmates)
  3. Quick-dry top coat (I used KBShimmer’s Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat)

Instructions:

  1. Paint a coat of your favorite black nail polish–the better the pigment the fewer coats you will need to paint. Orly ‘Liquid Vinyl’ is a great 1-coat black!
  2. To create a glitter ombre from the base of the nail, you can apply glitter a couple of different ways. You can use the brush from the glitter bottle and wipe the brush on a paper towel first. This will allow you to paint with a much smaller amount of glitter and slowly add layers of glitter until you can cover the bottom half of the nail as shown. You can also use a small piece of a makeup sponge to dab small amounts of glitter on the base of the nail, and clean up the surrounding cuticle after your nail art is dry.
  3. Allow a couple of minutes for the glitter to dry, then add your favorite top coat to seal your nail art! I used a quick dry polish that has a gel-like effect.
