negative space navy blue nails outline
It’s time to put your French manicure to the side–literally. Navy blue nails just feel so chic for fall–and these negative space nails are actually a modern take on a thin French manicure (both of which are huge nail trends this season).
navy blue nails are a mashup of french manicure and negative space nails
By only covering a partial tip of the nail and extending the design down to one side, I’ve quite literally flipped the script on the French tips trend. The result: an asymmetrical, super chic French manicure that will win over any nail art skeptic with its simple and subtle design.

Supplies:

Instructions

  1. Paint two coats of OPI bubble bath, or your favorite sheer nail polish, and let each coat dry for about 5 minutes after each application.
  2. Using a striping nail art brush, paint an edge around the left side of the nail, starting from the left bottom and ending the curve at the top of the nail tip on the right side.
  3. This edge is a navy shade–you can paint another coat to make the navy darker on the nail and smooth out any mistakes in the curve you just painted.
  4. Let your navy border dry and top with your favorite top coat – for this manicure I used a satin matte top coat.
