The beret might just be our favorite It-hat of the year. There, we said it.
And while it’s easy to look like a tourist who took a wrong turn on the way to Paris while wearing this type of chapeau, it’s also entirely possible to look seriously chic. Take one look at some of the style stars who’ve been out and about recently and you’ll see what we mean.
Berets have been around forever and have graced the heads of style icons like Brigitte Bardot, Lauren Bacall, Faye Dunaway, and more recently, Rihanna and Bella Hadid. Although along the way berets have developed a reputation for being cheesy, tacky, or touristy, designers like Chanel, Gucci, and Dior have revived the headwear classic in the past few seasons on the runway. Now, we’re spotting berets on some of our favorite fashionistas and we’re ready to give them another chance.
