Spring is in the air, which means it’s time to start packing away that winter wardrobe and break out your favorite items for spring! Now a few months into 2023, we’re seeing a few clear trends emerge, including some of our favorite fashion aesthetics like balletcore and subtle sexy details like mesh and sheer fabrics.
This season, we’re starting from the top–literally. In this guide, we’re focusing solely on spring tops that are perfect for making that transition from cold and windy winter to warm and sunny summer.
1. Floral Tops

Florals are a mainstay of spring fashion, and we obviously couldn’t forget them on this list! This year, we’re vibing with delicate and dainty florals in monochromatic and pastel palettes that feel both casual and romantic. Spring florals are super wearable and they’re a fun way to add patterns if you’re not into larger, bolder prints.
2. Spring Sweaters

Knit tops and light sweaters are a great addition to a spring wardrobe. Knits can keep you warm while still being breathable so you won’t overheat, which makes them perfect for spring days when temperatures can fluctuate. We’re especially loving looser, breezy knits and cropped styles. For extra seasonal fashion points, opt for a knit with 3-d floral detail or color blocked springy hues.
3. Sheer Mesh Tops

Speaking of light and breezy, these mesh tops feel like the embodiment of spring. Show off just a hint of skin, layer to play with opacity, or just enjoy the light breathability of a sheer top. If you’re into soft, feminine fashion trends like jelly nails or glass skin, sheer tops will fit your vibe perfectly.
4. Poplin Tops

Poplin is a thin, crisp cotton fabric with a slight sheen that holds shape beautifully without being too stiff or heavy. Because of the smooth, slightly glossy finish, poplin tops are a nice semi-formal option. Don’t let the polished finish fool you, though—poplin doesn’t feel stuffy at all. Super comfortable, poplin is one of our favorite fabrics to feature in a spring wardrobe.
5. Tops with Plunging Necklines

This season we’re showing off a little extra chest and cleavage with low-plunging necklines! These tops will make you feel bold and confident but aren’t so extreme that you’ll feel uncomfortable wearing them on an average day. (Pro tip: Balance out a plunging neckline with longer sleeves if you’re apprehensive.) Embrace the plunge and accessorize your decolletage with a stunning pendant necklace.
6. Balletcore Tops

Balletcore is one of our current favorite “cores” and a fashion aesthetic that some don’t dare to try! We say, give it a go! Balletcore can be as easy as wearing an adorable wrap sweater—something akin to a ballerina’s warm-up gear—or as fully committed as wearing a tulle skirt or dress. Floaty tulle, organza, and lace, soft cream and pink tones, and tops with open necklines are staples of this look and a good place to start.
7. Crochet Tops

Crocheted tops are the bohemian, festival-ready subcategory of knit tops! Crochet is naturally looser, flowier, and more open than standard knits, which helps to make it a comfortable spring option. We also love to layer crochet, since the open weave can add dimension to an outfit and show off the different colors or textures of your look.
