Nothing like reading a good book while taking in the sun! Here are my top 4 must reads for this summer!
#4. Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris
This is the latest in the Sookie Stackhouse novels (series which True Blood is based on). My experience with these books has always been positive. They offer laughs, tears, and some steamy pages that you’ll burn right through. This installment follows the after math of the Faery War and some new drama with the new Vampire King. Sookie and Eric’s relationship may also be in jeopardy!
I know these books aren’t Shakespeare, but I can’t help it, I’m hooked!
#3. Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang by Chelsea Handler
She’s at it again! Chelsea Handler is not afraid to tell it all. The E! late night host reveals moments of her life including family moments, her love life, and new adventures in being a dog owner. If you’re in need of a good laugh, pick this book up and you’ll be cracking up instantly!
#2. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer
It’s the Twihard in me! This book goes into the details a Bree Tanner, one of the new borns in Victoria’s army from Eclipse. This is perfect for the Twihards who want to read about the darker side of the vampire world and what it’s like to be a new born (not everyone has it as easy as Bella). With a mixture of romance, adventure, and a behind the scenes look into Eclipse events ( and all in less then 200 pages), this is a perfect easy read.
#1. Eat, Pray Love
I’ve been told for three years that I need to read this book, but no one would tell me what it’s about. Then I saw the trailer for the movie (coming out in August) and then I finally understood. This book is about stepping out of your comfort zone and enjoying life to it’s fullest. Based on her real life travels, Elizabeth Gilbert leaves everything behind (career, house, and husband) and travels to Italy, India, and Indonesia to search for different pleasures in life and spirituality exploration.Truly inspiring and a must read for everyone!

Eat Pray Love was such a good book.
Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series is on my list. I have 12-16 left to read. If you need a good laugh, her books will not disappoint.
I read Dead in the Family a few weeks ago. I’m a HUGE Sookie fan but is it just me or is the clothing she wears in the book ghastly? I have such a hard time reading descriptions like “I was wearing a light blue pantsuit with pink embroidered flowers.” Thank God HBO does a better job with Sookie’s wardrobe! Fun read though not my favorite in the series. (that would be Dead and Gone;)
I read Dead in the Family as soon as it was out in May. It was not my favorite of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, but it was still a good read. I agree with Cara though, Sookie’s clothes are ridiculous.
I just read Sh*t My Dad Says – it was supper funny and quick! I’m currently reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but i think it’s rather silly and boring at times.
I also plan on reading World War Z and the J.R. Ward Vampire series. Eat Pray Love sounds like in interesting read too; may give it a try 🙂
I’ve been wanting to read Eat Pray Love.
just what i need, some suggestions for a good summer read 🙂
