The perfect combination of cozy fall spices and rich, chocolatey espresso, this cocktail is super easy to mix up for an Autumn get-together, Friendsgiving, or a Thanksgiving celebration. The Pumpkin Espresso Martini is a real crowd-pleaser, and can even be made without espresso for non-coffee drinkers!

A fun twist on the classic espresso martini, this is the perfect cocktail for pumpkin lovers, coffee lovers, or anyone who just likes to sip on a nice warming drink. We’re starting with an easy pumpkin spice simple syrup, made with sugar, water, canned pumpkin, and cozy fall spices.

Once it’s had a chance to cool, just shake it up with vodka, Irish cream liquor, espresso, and ice. If you aren’t a fan of coffee or espresso, this cocktail is still delicious without it. Simply omit it from the recipe–no need to sub for anything else.

Ingredients

For the Pumpkin Spice Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3.5 ounces canned pumpkin puree
  • ¾ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves

For the Martinis:

  • 4 ounces vodka
  • 2 ounces Irish cream liquor
  • 2 ounces pumpkin simple syrup
  • 3 oz espresso
  • Pinch of espresso powder and cinnamon sticks to garnish

Directions

Step 1:

To make the pumpkin simple syrup, add the sugar and water to a medium saucepan and place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved. Reduce the heat and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 2:

Carefully add the pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground cloves, then whisk to combine. Reduce the heat to low. 

Step 3:

Simmer on low for 5–10 minutes, or until slightly thickened. 

Step 4:

Strain the syrup into a jar through a fine strainer to remove any lumps, then set aside to cool. 

Step 5:

Next, make the cocktail. Rim your glasses with pumpkin syrup, then cinnamon sugar. 

Step 6:

Add ice to a cocktail shaker followed by vodka, Irish cream liquor, pumpkin simple syrup, and espresso. Shake well. 

Step 7:

Pour into martini glass and garnish with a pinch of espresso powder and a cinnamon stick.  Enjoy!
