With the holidays around the corner, I immediately start thinking of glitter and shimmer to get my nails festive for the season. From Christmas decorations to my manicure, I love to see a bit of sparkle and shine, and this silver nail design puts a metallic twist on classic half-moon nails. It’s a quick, easy way to get into the holiday spirit!
For this manicure, I put a glittery foiled finish on the half-moon design for a look that works perfectly with a holiday dress or an ugly Christmas sweater. Plus, you don’t need any nail art tools if you don’t have them! Here’s everything you’ll need to do this silver nail design:
Silver Half-Moon Nails
Supplies:
- Base coat
- Sheer neutral polish (I used Static Nails Coconut)
- Silver nail polish (I used Starrily Moonlight)
- Glossy top coat
- Optional: Thin nail art brush
Instructions:
Step 1: Prep and file your nails to your desired shape.
Step 2: Apply a thin layer of base coat.
Step 3: Apply a layer of sheer neutral polish as your base shade and let dry.
Step 4: For the half-moon shape at the base of your nail, you can approach it two different ways. The first method doesn’t require any tools, you can just use the nail polish brush from your silver nail polish and make sure there isn’t too much product on the brush end. Starting at the bottom edge of your nail, create the half-moon shape to the other corner of your nail. Then paint in the rest of your nail, leaving the half-moon shape open.
Steps 5 & 6: The other option is to use a nail art brush, dip it into your silver polish, and draw a thin line in the half-moon shape. This gives you a little bit more control to map out the shape. Then fill in the rest of the nail.
Step 7: Once the design is dry, top with a glossy top coat and cap the free edge.
