This season is all about big hat energy. Wide-brim hats, bucket hats, visors, and more offer extra cool points to any outfit, which of course begs the question: But how do I wear my hair? Well, you’ve got options. Whether you prefer to wear your strands down, up, or somewhere in between, here are six easy-to-achieve hat hairstyles to take you through the season–and beyond!

Bonus: These looks all work under graduation caps, too. “Hat hair?” Yes, please.

Braid:

Instructions:

  1. Section out the hair around a center part.
  2. Pull the rest of the hair into a side ponytail and secure it with a clear elastic.
  3. Separate the hair in half just above the elastic. Then, flip it inward and through.
  4. Add another clear elastic a few inches below and repeat. Continue until you are a couple of inches from the of the hair.
  5. Pull on the sections for fullness and texture.

Low Space Buns:

Instructions:

  1. Section out the hair around a center part.
  2. Part the rest of the hair into two sections and create pigtails with clear elastics.
  3. On the last pull-through, only pull through halfway.  Then, wrap the remaining hair around the elastic and pull the ends back through the elastic.
  4. Repeat on the other side.

Half-Up and Clipped:

Instructions:

  1. Pull the hair into a half-up ponytail with a slight middle part.
  2. Lift the hair in the elastic up to rest on the top of the head.
  3. Secure the hair from the under-side with a small claw clip, right above the elastic.
  4. Let the hair fall, covering the clip.

All Down Braid

Instructions:

  1. Grab a section of hair a couple of inches back from the hairline.
  2. Create a three-strand braid and secure it with a clear elastic.
  3. Pull on the braid for fullness or leave for a tighter look.

Half-Up

Instructions:

  1. Pull hair at the crown into a chunky half-up ponytail.
  2. Wrap a section of the hair from the ponytail around the elastic and pin into place.

Low Bun

Instructions:

  1. Pull hair into a low ponytail (remove face-framing pieces).
  2. Only pull through halfway on the last pull.
  3. Wrap the remaining hair around the elastic and pin into place.
  4. Some pieces will fall–pick and choose which ones you leave out and which ones you pull across, and secure for that messy look.
